One problem though. The vst scan hangs on Real Guitar 2.dll
Do you mean to say this is a problem with the new project creation, or did it hang in the project wizard of the previous releases as well?
The problem only appeared with this ver. 166 using the new project creation. The problem never occurred before with the project wizard and/or with previous releases. 😕
Could you try to create a new project using the project wizard in 1.66 and see if this causes it to hang?
Sure can. I’ll get back to you.

I did that just now and specified first the RealGuitar2 folder and then my whole vstplugin folder, both worked, no problem-quick import, no hanging.

The new startup page straddles my 2 monitors e.g one half one on, other half on the other.
And I can’t seem to move it.
Is this intentional ?

It’s intentional that the page is centered on the window. If the Podium main window is spread across your two screens, then you must be using the ‘extend my Windows desktop…’ option in display properties? Normal behaviour I think is that a maximized window only occupies one screen and you can then use the other screen for other windows.
OK – thanks.
Yes – “extend my desktop” is the way I have the dual monitors running.
So the only way for me to see it on one monitor is not to have Podium stretched across both (ie. Podium confined to one ) ?
Can I then stretch the main project page back over to cover both monitors ?

The main window, yes.

I’m curious: You have the window stretched across two screens, so when you are editing arrangements the timeline is stretched across two screens? Isn’t that difficult to work with?
A solution to your problem could be to restore/unmaximize the window (resize it to one screen) when you work on the start page and then maximize the window again when doing other work.

Yes and sometimes (never like to do things the easy way :))
Actually I haven’t got round to arranging the windows in Podium properly yet.
I just have the whole thing stretched across…
In Cubase I have the arrange page on left monitor & mixers on the right…but your “mixer” is glued to the bottom of the arrange page isn’t it ?
In Reason I have the sequencer on left monitor, rack on the right (the rack, unfortunately, is not resizable horizontally so it looks a bit lonely floating in the middle of a 19″ monitor).
In FLS, the main browser / step seq / mixer etc on the left and playlist sequencer on the right. The windows in FLS are generally not resizable so if some things (ie. mixer) is on the right, it’s too far away for me to read (especially with FLS’s cool DARK gui and tiny font size! )
Have you any suggestions for window arranging in Podium ?
but your “mixer” is glued to the bottom of the arrange page isn’t it ?
Only in the default setup. You can change the layout of the editors with the sequence profiles. You could remove the mixer completely from the arrangement profile and create a new profile containing e.g. two mixer regions. You would then open a new browser window and place that in your second screen. When you want to edit an arrangement, select the arrangement in both browser windows and select your mixer profile from the view menu in the second browser window. You then have one screen reserved for timeline editing and another screen for mixing.
Yes, you can do everything you want with the four screensets and two monitors.
It is extremely powerfull to use Podium like this.
The only problem actually is that you have to open each arrange view and set its appearance each time you open the project…

That’s a bit of a pain – so you can’t arrange your windows to a “default” setting for whenever you open the project e.g. they all appear in their stored positions across the 2 monitors ?

The number of open windows and their positions are stored in the setup. But if you have two browser windows open, they will both show the project page when you start Podium. You need to select the arrangement in both windows to start editing.

thanks Frits – I’ll have a play around later.
BTW my default Project folders are getting very messy..zillions of 3rd party VSTi’s and effects all over the place (I spent ages moving them around to organise, mainly in alphabetical order as Podium doesn’t do this) – folders with funny names, duplications, plugin channel mapping folders etc.
Although everything seems to work, it’s all a bit messy.
I think I’m going to take your advice and recreate them with just a few plugins to start with to learn how to organise them properly.

I downloaded the realguitar2 demo yesterday, and will test it later tonight.
