    • “New Unique Copy”, “New Phantom Copy” and “New Track Copy” are added to the context menu of arrangements on the start page.
    • “New Copy” is added to the context menu of mappings.
    • “New Instance” is added to the context menu of global mappings. This can be used to create additional set of mappings for new instances of busses, hardware devices and multiple IO plugins.
    • “New Insert Mapping” and “New Multichannel Insert Mapping” are added to the context menu of global plugin mappings. This will create an insert mapping that can be used if you don’t need the multiple IO capabilites of the plugin. The “New Multichannel…” menu is useful for creating a single mapping for multichannel plugins that by default are imported with the channels split up in stereo pairs.
    • Importing global instrument plugins now automatically creates MIDI channel mappings. This makes the old project wizard “Import multitimbral plugin” command obsolete.
    • The device information shown on the start page no longer uses the generic “send” and “return” labels for all mappings. Instead “input” and “output” are used depending on the device type.
    • The input/output labels shown in the device mapping properties dialog now change according to the selected device type.
    • “Show audio meters” option is added to the tracks region properties dialog.
    • Menu buttons are added to the track inspector title area and the preset panel. These can be used instead of right-clicking the panel headers.
    • When browser windows are maximized they are shown in full-screen mode, like the main window. Browser windows can be maximized by double-clicking or right-clicking the caption bar. Maximizing browser windows is only useful when using dual monitor setups where you have the main window and the browser window on separate monitors.
    • Fix: If a secondary monitor is defined to be at the left of the primary monitor, the menus opened in the secondary monitor would be shown at the left edge of the primary monitor.
    • Fix: Opening the properties dialog for a library preset from the preset panel did not update the preset with the plugin current settings.

The Podium demo has been updated to this version and can be accessed on the download page. You may have to refresh the page in your browser to see the latest download link.

    Nice additions !

Thanks, it now simpler and faster to do.

The device information shown on the start page no longer uses the generic “send” and “return” labels for all mappings. Instead “input” and “output” are used depending on the device type.

More logical for my little old brain…

“Show audio meters” option is added to the tracks region properties dialog.

I have not found it in the Track properties ??

Menu buttons are added to the track inspector title area and the preset panel. These can be used instead of right-clicking the panel headers.

Very nice and more obvious !

The “tracks region properties” in the editor profile.

    Oh, weird…
I thought that it will be a track option basis, not a global option for the whole profile.
In this case, I wonder if it is really interesting…

Could it be a track option in the future ?

    Hi acousmod,

you could create a copy of your standard arrangement profile and in that copy you disable the meters. Than in your arrangement, you can easily switch the profiles with your F 8 Key.

    Nice update Frits! Thanks!!
I see a clear road towards more usability and getting more customers. Podium develops very well in this regard. The new buttons in the track inspector are great. One tiny little thing I need concerning a mixer windows on another screen: Why is there no shortcut for “new browser window”? Or have I overseen this?

Again: Nice update! And keep up the good work!!

Totally agree. I thought that was where I would find it too. Please Frits consider adding this as a simple right click option. I would much prefer to find it there and would make far more use of it. I thought that was actually the original idea. In any case a right click option is far easier to access and use quickly IMHO. πŸ˜‰

Currently I would have to go to View scroll down to Editor Profiles, find Tracks click on that, then click on the Properties button, find the Show audio meters option, then tick or untick the box, click OK to come out of the Track Region Properties box, then click OK again to come out of the Editor Profile Region properties menu.

Way too long. Can you see what I mean?

Imagine having just a simple right click option…one click. πŸ˜‰ By all means leave the current option where it is, if need be. But..please do add a right click option at track level. For instance right clicking on any meter. πŸ˜‰

Another area which seems slightly odd at the moment is the Device Mapping Panel *within* an arrangement.

What do I mean? Well these lovely options can now be seen when right clicking on an Instrument. Sweeeet…

    “New Copy”
    “New Instance”
    “New Insert Mapping”
    “Importing global instrument plugins”

So…after seeing these I went back to the arrangement opened up the Device Mapping Panel and right clicked on the same mapping… none of the options above are there. πŸ™ Only…

    “Assign To Track”

    AND

    “Properties”

I understand why the four new options are in the Devices: section, on the start page instrument right click menu. They should remain there. But surely now Podium is just one step away from allowing the complete management of all plugins from the Device Mapping Panel (within the arranger).

I think there are very few if any hosts that work this way from a simple right click option! 8)

Why browse to the start page (that is where you ‘started’) just to “Import a new instance”, make a “New Copy” import a “New Import Mapping” or “Import global Instrument Mappings”?

By simply adding the four new options to the right click menu of Instruments in the Device Mapping Panel (in the arranger) one could start working on a project and do almost every single thing they need to do without ever leaving the Arrangement window! A very powerful workflow feature indeed.

Move to a new folder and Delete should also be added to right click menus for FX and instruments in the Device Mapping Panel in the Arrangement page, to complete the set of options used to manage all aspects of plugins. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ 8)

It’s very much like a mini version of the new Soundframe Browser in Cubase 4 that lets you manage all sorts of things in Cubase. What I am suggesting here is simply adding options that exist elsewhere in Podium to right click menus for Instruments and / or FX when right clicked in the Arrangement page, within the Device Mapping Panel.

    Just to clarify…

I think the Devices: area on the start page is essential. It should remain there but while it does duplicate aspects of the Device Mapping Panel it provides an essential overview when combined with the Arrangement & Sounds and Project areas on the start page. I think Podiums implementation of a start page is probably the best I seen anywhere yet. πŸ™‚

So my suggestions are not leading to removing the Devices area…just adding the four new options plus Move to a new folder and Delete to the right click options for FX and Instruments in the Device Mapping Panel in any Arrangment page. πŸ˜‰

Well, I apparently have misunderstood your feature request:
    http://www.zynewave.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=942

I thought your main problem was that all the track meters was taking up too much space when you resized the track header width. Do you really want to select show/hide meter for each individual track? If I had implemented this, your next request would probably be if this could be a global option too? πŸ˜‰

Why is there no shortcut for “new browser window”? Or have I overseen this?

Originally I thought the browser window was not something you would want to open/close frequently, unlike the list window. Ctrl+B is taken, so maybe when I have removed the project wizard window, Ctrl+W could be used for the broWser window?

I have a different opinion on this. Why clutter all the menus in the arrangement editor when going back to the browser window can be done with 1 click? I do not want to “surf” through a menu with 50 options. I like it the way it is. I do not see a reason why I should import a plugin within the arrangement editor, because I cannot rearrange inside the inspector window. All of this can be done on the 1st page. I know, you want to make working with Podium easier by suggesting this, but I think it would be counter productive.

    just my 2 cents..

    I cannot guaranty it, but I don’t think so…
My suggestion was only for selected tracks, since I rarely use the mixer and it is good to have some level indications at some particular points in the hierarchy structure or at some moments.
When I have written “I would often prefer to see the track names instead of all the meters”, “often” meaned “most of the tracks”, which is in French implicit.

From my point of view and how I work, it is a very good idea.

I don’t think that 4 more options in a right click context menu is so cluttering ?

Take “confusing” for cluttering. In my opinion the less options you have to achieve one thing, the less it can confuse newcomers. I like right click context menus, but there are always two sides to the medal.

Well, I apparently have misunderstood your feature request:
    http://www.zynewave.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=942

Acousmod said “a useful track option” I understood this to mean a track level option. Not sure what Acousmod meant (I cannot speak for him of course) but I thought you added it to the Track properties menu not Track region properties menu.

That is why I quite happily accepted the new feature later in the thread. My mistake (sorry) as you said Track region properties in the thread I mixed this up with Track properties as I very rarely use the Track Region menu.

I thought your main problem was that all the track meters was taking up too much space when you resized the track header width. Do you really want to select show/hide meter for each individual track?

I would definitely make use of this feature on a per track basis. When I need more space for a brief time then a right click option is all I need. Switching back to enable the meters again would require a simple right click to change back. πŸ˜‰

If I had implemented this, your next request would probably be if this could be a global option too? πŸ˜‰

Actually Frits no πŸ˜‰ , because it is something I would be changing from track to track when needed. Changing the meter preference globally every time is *not* how I would use it hence my comments and suggestions for a right click track level option. πŸ™‚

However…the current implementation should not be removed as it is of course another way to hide meters which before 1.69 was simply not there. It has a perfectly good use now. It is not time wasted.

If hopefully you add a right click option to Show / hide meters the global option would still be useful to have if a user wants to work without meters for a set time across all tracks that would actually be useful to me, …but I always wanted a track level option at least first and mistakenly thought your comment on that thread referred to the Track properties area (track level) not deeper into Podium globally through the Track Region Properties options. πŸ˜‰

I hope that helps clarify things 8)
