LiquidProj3ctParticipantHello guys, I have problems with track automation default value. The problem is:
1. I want to automate Firebird Cutoff, then I right click in its track and select “Cutoff” from menu (Look at Firebird’s Cutoff)
2. Then a child track “borns”
3. And when I press play Cutoff is set to 0 automatically π
Please, how can I avoid this? I thought that default value was the value that the knob had in the moment of the creation of the automation track. At least with other VST/Parameters I hadn’t got this problem and the default value was always the value which I create the automation track.
Thanks you

The problem here is that this method of creating a parameter track does not also create a curve sequence on the track. So the current plugin value is not retrieved, as it is done when you create the parameter track by recording knob changes in the plugin editor. You can get around your problem by manually drawing in a curve sequence on the track before starting playback. I’ll change this so that a curve sequence is automatically created when you manually add the automation tracks.

LiquidProj3ctParticipantOk, thanks you! π

Frits, what value for the automatic automation curve? Will this ‘read’ from the plugin and automatically draw a flat line for the length of the event at that value?

Yes.

H-manParticipantNice ….thx!
Forgive me for not checking but has anyone requested “Save as Track Template” for parameter tracks?
I think it would be great to have a library of pre-configured parameter (edit: automation) curves. Maybe included by default in the library?

That will be a bit tricky, as the parameter object assigned on the track belongs to the device mapping. So you won’t be able to paste a parameter track to another type of device.

H-manParticipantOkay, makes sense.
Would it be possible to call a curve ‘shape’ from the Curve editor? Are these geometry or midi data?
I’m thinking, right-click – insert curve:
Eg. Sine, Sine x2, Build up (Crescendo), Step 1/4, Step 1/1 etc.Perhaps this sounds a little pedantic but I often get the feeling that the process could be a tad easier than re-creating curves each time (per project).

You can reuse your curve sequences if you like. Just copy the sequences from the object list and paste them into your new project. Then drag the sequences onto your automation tracks.

H-manParticipantHey …that’s what I was looking for! π
Thanks again.

aMUSEdParticipantWhat’s this “object list”? There is a “list” at the top right but it just seems to link to folders on my HD, not other stuff. Can you store envelopes to use between different projects then?

Hey aMUSEd,
Yeah you can cut/copy most objects between Arrangements and Projects. The curve sequence is a little interesting in that they only appear (ever) as part of the .pod file and thus cannot be accessed via Windows Explorer or whatever.
Copying curve sequences between Arrangements is definately easier using the list panel (right-click copy, right-click paste), however I have come to prefer using the Project Object Browser to copy the curve sequences between Projects.
Note that you have to copy, then open a new project and then paste them into an arrangement.
Don’t let me oversell it π it’s clunky-as but it works and is worth it if you have built up a decent curve library.
I’m building one up at present with some standard shapes and will share it when complete. However, based on the above, I’ll have to load a .pod file from which the curve sequences can be copied.

aMUSEdParticipantLike I said though, when I click on list all I see is folders on my HD (inc the Podium folder) but no list of objects (or project object browser) so how do I access those?
thanks

Project object browser can be access by clicking on the small round button on the project page (click again to get back).
edit: upper right-hand corner.
As for the list windows there are 2 panes. On the one on the far right, look for the drop down arrows. You can use the options in the drop down list to get to your projects folder.
Have a play ….you’ll see what I mean. π
