i own alchemy and use it in reaper and it works perfectly… except in podium. i have podium 2.29. when i load it the gui doesn’t show up just a very small box. any suggestions?
I just tried the Camel Audio Alchemy demo. The GUI behaves ok for me.
Can you give me some more detail about the “very small box”?
Do you see part of the Alchemy GUI in the box?
I haven’t had any problems with alchemy in podium yet.
I’ll try it in 2.29 tonight or tomorrow (depending on how much time I get to spend in the studio)

I have just updated to 2.29 and created a new project with Alchemy and all seems to be working fine. [where is the shrug emoticon]?
I’m now running Win 7 Ultimate 64Bit btw.
Maybe a silly question but is the skins folder in the correct location and the background.png file there?
when i open up alchemy and hit the e button to actually see alchemy on the top, slightly left of center displays a box about one halk inch by one half inch. i can’t see any of the gui at all.it just says alchemy- t can i re-scan my plug ins?
It must be because the plugin cannot locate the “Skins” subfolder within the Alchemy folder. I just tried renaming “Skins” to “_Skins” and when loading and opening the plugin editor I get a small window like you describe.
Open the properties dialog for the “Alchemy” device mapping, and check that the plugin file path points to the correct Alchemy.dll file. Perhaps you have copied the dll to another place where Podium has detected it. In the folder where Alchemy.dll is located there should be an “Alchemy” subfolder, and within that folder a “Skins” subfolder.
i don’t know that much about computers. how can i do this in plain english? or should i hire a computer guy?
Open the inspector device panel, and locate the “Alchemy” instrument in the list. Right-click it and select “Properties”. At the bottom left corner of the dialog is a “Plugin file” field. This should be the path that you specified when you installed Alchemy. What is the filepath shown?
To check that the Alchemy installation is ok, open a Windows file explorer. Browse to the folder that you saw in the “Plugin file” field. Check if there is an “Alchemy” subfolder next to the “Alchemy.dll” file. Browse into the “Alchemy” subfolder, and check if there is a “Skins” subfolder here.
Have you verified that the Alchemy editor still opens correctly in Reaper, after you encountered the problem in Podium?

If you continue having problems you can download TeamViewer (small free program) from http://www.teamviewer.com and I would help you, for free. It’s a program that allow me move your mouse and use your keyboard seeing what you see in your screen. You can break the process just pressing ESC, it’s totally safe.
did it! thanks

Sorry, was this a comment to my post?
If so, do you mean you have solved the problem? And how?
no unfortunately, i loaded team viewer to have liquid proj3t help me. i don’t even know where the inspector device panel is! (i know where the inspector is in the program)0i don’t understand the terminology.
A user on the Camel Audio forum had a similar problem with Reaper last year, which they solved by rescanning:

Which version of Alchemy are you using?
I connected to Carl’s PC this morning. I didn’t have to many time so I’ve to do it quickly: I manually imported Alchemy.dll in Podium and it worked without problem.
I *think* that there is another alchemy dll copy in another folder which doesn’t have access to the GUI, but carl have hundreds of plugins and I couldn’t search manually which was the bad alchemy.dll. So I saved the plugin data base with Alchemy imported manually and the problem was solved.
