BirthmanParticipantHello Fritz, I´m from Uruguay (South America) and i´m thinking on buying Poduim. I´m using Podium Free for testing. I have a problem with it. I´ve imported a few stereo tracks (about nine) and just pressed play. The sound is always late compared with the waveforms.
I have a Toshiba Laptop Satellite A205.
Intel Pentium Dual CPU T2390 @ 1.86 GHz 1.87 GHz
Vista 32 Home Basic Service Pack 2 32 bits.
Hard Disk Hitachi ATA 7200 (I guess, it comes with the laptop)Sorry about my english!!

kyranParticipantThis delay between the visuals and the soundcard output is called latency.
You will need special low latency drivers to overcome this.I suggest you take a look at asio4all (http://www.asio4all.com). It’s a free asio driver which works with most soundcards.
Install the driver, then in podiums audio settings select “asio” as the driver type and select asio4all as the driver.
In the config panel of asio4all you can modify the soundbuffer settings (smaller buffer is smaller latency, but higher cpu usage). I find that a buffer size of 1024 of 512 is a good compromise during production and mixdown (I set it a bit lower when I need to monitor something during recording).I hope it makes any sense to you.

BirthmanParticipantSorry, I forgot to mention. I´m using the asio4all and the buffer size setted at 512.
Thanks for the replay kyran.

BirthmanParticipantI´ve been testing the same audio tracks on Reaper, and nothing happens. The playback and the waveforms are in sync.
The sample rate of the tracks is 48000, so i setted Podium with this sample rate, and the asio4all option always resample 44.1 to 48 is on.
I´ve tried all the options but always the playback is late compared with the waveforms, but only in Podium.March 3, 2011 at 13:07 #20390
BirthmanParticipantAnd the resolution of the project at 16 bits, like the tracks, so everything is right.

thcilnnahojParticipantI’m sorry to ask this, but are you absolutely sure you’ve selected the ASIO driver in the audio interfaces dialog?
Also, I assume the files are playing back at the correct sample rate?
March 4, 2011 at 14:54 #20395
BirthmanParticipantYes, I have the asio driver selected, and the sample rates are correct.
Thanks for the replay!

thcilnnahojParticipantThat is very strange indeed. :-k
Does it also happen with just one file? (Maybe you could also try if the delay is present when using a VST instrument.)
Do the meters in the mixer also have this delay?
Your computer should have no problem handling this situation, but please check if Podium perhaps uses an extraordinarily large amount of CPU power anyway.

ZynewaveKeymasterJust to be sure: When you say the visuals are late compared to the audio output, do you mean the position of the play cursor as it moves across the waveforms on the tracks?
Is it a constant delay, or does the delay increase as playback progresses?
Please check that the samplerate in the arrangement properties dialog is set to 48000. Changing the default samplerate in the interfaces dialog will not affect the samplerate setting in arrangements that are already created.
