I’m using ImpOscar on a track in Podium 1.38 and ran across a problem.
How do I change BANKS ? Only the default Imposcar bank is loaded by default. Imposcar seems to rely on the host for bank loading, but Podium only shows the current bank of presets in Programs on the left side of the screen.
So far, I use Chainer as a workaround and load Imposcar into Chainer. That way, I can load any Imposcar bank that I want.
Any ideas how to change banks in Podium for a vsti?
Cheers

1) right click on the impOSCar track and choose “Create new bank” or whatever it says, as opposed to create new preset
2) Now, under the presets tab on the left, find the new bank preset you made, and right click on it and choose properties
3) In the properties window, choose Import Bank and find the bank you want to import, then click ok
4) Now double-click on the preset mapping to apply it to the track, and right click on the imposcar track again and choose “update library” which should give new presets for each of the presets in the bank
I hope you can wrok out what I’m talking about as I don’t have Podium in front of me so this is going by memory 😉
you can also import banks into the project brower, as detailed in the Podium guide

I don’t understand from your description-no matter where I click on the track with midi events, I can’t see anything remotely like what you describe! 😳
Right-click on the track header where the impOSCar is assigned. Monitoring must be activated to see the preset menus. You can also click on the menu button in the header of the preset panel in the inspector.

sorry, i should have been a bit clearer. you can also right click on the channels in the mixer, which for some reason I always seem to do
another useful tip: you can build up a “template project” by starting a new project and importing every single imposcar bank into the project browser
1) In the project browser menus choose “import plugin” and then navigate to imposcar.dll
2) Now in the project browser, you’ll see two objects… “GMedia Music – impOSCar” and “impOSCar insert”. Double click on the first one (“GMedia Music – impOSCar” ) to go into it
3) Now, double click on the “Programs” folder to go into it
4) Now from the project browser menu choose… File…. Import File…
5) in the popup window that appears, select “All files” from the “File Types” drop down menu
6) Navigate to an imposcar bank (.fxb) you want to load, and import it
7) Repeat for all other imposcar banks you have
8) Now save the project as “imposcar template” or something like that
Every time you want to use impOSCar in a new project, you can import the “imposcar template” project into your new project. You can then easily drag the imposcar mapping to a track, and when you select the imposcar track you’ll notice all your banks will be visible under the “Preset” tab on the left… nice! You can also edit your impOSCar template so the banks are arranged in folders but I’ll leave that for you to play around with 8)
So, it’s a nice way to be able to import impOSCar and have all the banks instantly accessible without reloading banks for every project

Thanks, got it. It still seems like a VERY obtuse and awkward way of changing banks compared to most other hosts that have a file menu attached to the synth gui when displayed.
Does this procedure have to be followed for every bank for every track for every project? I know you can make a template, but having a preset/bank selector attached to the synth gui is far easier to use. To say the least, this proceedure is very frustrating and a waste of time.
Far easier to just load Chainer or eXT as a track host and voila! you have a much simpler solution that improves workflow and saves time.

Not for every track. Once a fxp/fxb file is imported into the project, it will be available in the preset panel to all tracks that have the plugin assigned. If you’re just browsing the various bank files, you can reuse the one bank library preset you have created. Open the properties for the library preset, and import another bank file. I guess this could be streamlined by adding an ‘import file’ menu to the library preset context menu.

It would be great if banks were universally available for any project as they are in Cubase, Tracktion, eXT, etc.
Users often work on several project ideas that are ongoing and it gets to be a PITA having to reimport for every project. You get an idea and want to record it while it’s fresh in your mind. Oh, but wait-you have to import several different banks first and…what was that idea again? 🙁
As I mentioned previously, right now it is far easier to just load Chainer or ext as a workaround. But we shouldn’t have to do so.
Thanks for listening. 8)
yeah. a good bank/program-management is essential for a good host. many vsts without an own patch-management rely on this. cubase for example saves these settings in a xml-file for every vst. then when you load the vst again, all banks/programs for this vst are loaded automatically (or are available) to it …
the best would be, if podium could use a steinberg-compatible xml-format. so users could interchange banks/programs saved with cubase/nuendo and podium.
