I submitted a Feature Request of about six items just a few days ago as I was finally getting a chance to investigate some of the finer workings of Podium. In the realm of MIDI one major need I and a hoard of other non-keyboardists have is an in-house, on-screen poly keyboard that can record in realtime, unlike the composing abilities of the piano roll. So the keyboard will continue to top my short list of requests. After all, I think every one of the leading systems have one, even lowly Cantabile as far back as 1.0.
But as I’ve started using my various VSTi synths and trying out various Podium features, I’m starting to wonder just what more needs improving in the MIDI department. Rather than list my own very few suggestions I’d like to hear from others SPECIFICALLY what they feel is missing here. As I’ve learned my way around Podium I found a couple that I thought were absent to be lurking under the right click and so on.
Now, I’ve seen it mentioned on the forum numerous times, but I’m having some trouble finding out the details. Maybe it’s just that I wasn’t extremely interested in MIDI instruments until just last year, until I decided to add other instruments to the basic trio and quartet band formats I’ve gigged and recorded with all these years. One big upcoming project I’m starting is a DIY band with added instruments as I find a place for them.
So what is it that needs to be added to Podium to help all the MIDI enthusiasts out there? Now that I’ve played with it a bit, it looks like this system has about the same features as most other major DAWs I’ve been exposed to. Am I missing something obvious here? Can anyone offer a list or any details?
I miss an easy way to assign CCs to VST parameters! A MIDI learn would go a long way to make setups easy to automate, and tweak, with my MIDI controller.
The one MIDI-related thing which I think Podium could do with is the ability to assign MIDI inputs to effects VST (along the lines of the existing automation tracks, but with MIDI instead of ‘level’ based control). I don’t know whether this would be easy to implement, or even if it’s been brought up before (sorry if it has!)

That should already be possible.
If you’re talking about assigning/routing a MIDI input mapping directly to an effect, then you can do this through the track inspector. Select the checkmark button next to the effect, and then select an input from the Input panel.
MIDI parameters can also be automated for effects, just like for instruments, provided that MIDI parameters have been created for the VST effect. You can create these with the menu button in the inspector parameter panel.
…and so it is! Please forgive my insolence!

…dare I sit at the “licencee” table… 😳
MIDI effects. Arps mainly.
i’d vote for supporting midi fx and midi routing ( route the midi out of a plug in to the midi input of another plug in on a different track that is )
