I have a fashion of workflow that I wish to work in. The problem is a missing piece of that puzzle that no one seems to offer.
I’m looking for a dedicated midi sequencer, with advanced midi features. I also would like to have Virtual Synth as well as External Midi Sound Module sequencing support. Then I want it to have BOTH Rewire Host and Slave support. I see Podium has “Rewire” on the table…..BUT???? Host of Slave??? I’m going to take a pretty good guess here and say “Host”. Well, let me tell you my experience, there’s too many Rewire “Hosts” out there and not enough apps that offer slave support. Rewire does not work very effectively of using 2 apps together if there is only a few select slaves and a a whole lot of hosts. It’s just like midi sync….imagine if every app only offered to generate MTC/Midi Clock and no one would chase to it. That’s the reality I find in Rewire currently.
I already have my audio programs of choice. My entire workflow consists of midi sequencing, multitrack audio and loop sequencing. Now I like to work on each of these elements seperately and don’t like being cluttered with a bunch of audio features which get in my way when I’m trying to do midi sequencing. Then when my midi sequencing is near being complete, I like to open up my audio multitrack and lay the midi off as audio. After that, I then close out the midi app, so now my midi features are no longer in the way of the audio features I’m using. Same thing for my loop sequencing, I like to use Sony’s Acid for this. Ultimately I would like to have an App like Sonar dedicated for multitracking/editing and mixing audio, then I can rewire Acid to it, if I need dedicated loop sequencing features. Then additionally I can rewire my dedicated midi sequencer to Sonar if I need midi features. I would consider Podium part of that workflow of being my dedicated midi sequencer……but Rewire Slave functionality????? Now that’s the big queston for me. Please consider it, there’s already an overwhelming supply of Rewire hosts. So I guess no one wants to be a slave.
Thanks for listening,
Red
Hi,
Thanks for your feedback. It’s valuable information to hear how people prefer to work with sequencers. Rewire is on the list, but I’m afraid I can’t set any date on when it will be implemented. I have tried emailing Propellerheads three times over the last year or so, to inquire about the Rewire licensing. So far, I have not received reply, so I’m currently focusing my development efforts on other areas.

Doesn’t a simple MIDI Time Code link wont’be sufficient for this ?
I suppose that MIDI sync will be easier to implement ?
But perhaps that I didn’t understand at all what you are trying to do…
Yay! I want Podium to be a rewire host… um, no rush. Props is damn gay for not responding. Frikkin Props… I own Reason 3.0 and ever since I found bigger and better things (cubase, VSTs, PODIUM!!!, etc) well I just felt Propellerheads sucks. Such is life. 😐
Anyway, I would like to use reason with Podium.
Here’s the license application link for ReWire:
Just writing this to be helpful…I not only don’t care if ReWire is implemented or not, I think Reason sucks and so does the whole clunky ReWire concept. But everybody else loves it so hope this helps!

I have been through that licensing page. You are required to fax in the signed license, and this is what I emailed Propellerheads about. No reply.
Very odd.
Well if you get all the Podium users who want ReWire to e-mail them saying “Why haven’t you responded to Frits?!?!” maybe they’ll finally answer. When the time comes, of course.
