sam cParticipantmute for audio tracks and bypass for fx?
Thanks

ZynewaveKeymasterNo. You’ll need to use level automation to simulate muting. Depending on the plugin, there may be a VST “mix” parameter or something similar, that you can automate to simulte bypassing the effect.

sam cParticipantFrits, any plans for this sort of automation? If your engine shuts a mute track down this is very handy to have implemented! Saves mucho CPU power.

ZynewaveKeymasterMaybe. I’ve got a lot of features that I think is more important. Besides, depending on the plugin, you don’t have to bypass plugins to save CPU. E.g. all zPlugins are coded to reduce CPU usage to almost nothing, if they are processing silence. I’ve also heard rumours that the new VST3 specification will have functions for reducing CPU usage.

sam cParticipantFrits, when a track is muted is it shut down from the engine? not vst just an audio track.

Not entirely, only the mixing. If a sound file is placed on the track it is still being streamed from disk, so that if you unmute the track then playback of the sound can start immediately.

Already discussed, but I really hope that you will add an option in the Preferences to change that in the future.
I prefer A LOT to save disk access when the track is muted and have a little delay when I unmute it instead of the contrary.
Thanks.so that if you unmute the track then playback of the sound can start immediately.
Reminder : the volume bug is always here. If the track has a volume automation envelope it is ignored when you unmute the track and the sound is played at 100 % level, so we need to stop and restart playback.
Also applicable for Pan and Sends.March 26, 2007 at 09:18 #9612

Also applicable for Pan and Sends.Confirmed. Good catch acousmod, it is definitely a bug, I just tried to replicate it by having a drum loop feed into a another track with a level automation parameter on it and a curve sequence drawn on it, and just as you said, I muted and unmuted the track during playback and the curve automation sequence was ignored.
