    Hi Frits,

The free Overtone GEQ by Voxengo…

    http://www.voxengo.com/product/overtonegeq/

…it appears cannot be used in Podium…*if*… you place it after another FX in a chain.

I tried this with a track with no instrument mapping and a track with an instrument mapping.

Placing the input mapping in front or behind the output mapping for the Overtone GEQ appears to make no difference at all. I was well and truly baffled at that point. 😕

The only way to get this plugin to work it appears is the set up a new track , place the input for the overtone there then add a separate track for the corresponding output mapping.

Also why are so many mappings exposed for this plugin in Podium? Sometimes it helps but sometimes like this it really is very confusing.

Tracktion does actually allow the Overtone plug to be used between other FX in a chain. Just drag and drop one mapping and that’s it.

I just cannot get Podium to work with the Overtone plug if I place it between any two FX, can you tell me how this can be done and work properly please?

I really hope I am doing something wrong as this is a really nice plug. One the most highly rated plugs on KVR, it simply sounds great.

    Thanks!

It’s because the plugin supports multichannel use, so Podium imports it as a global plugin with separate mappings for each stereo input/output. If you want to use it in stereo-only mode, right-click the mapping in the device list, and use the “new insert mapping” command.

Excellent thanks I will try that. 🙂

FWIW I think Podium exposing mappings the way it does is actually a better way of handling plugins.

What might help is if Podium detects a plugin with different mappings like the GEQ overtone, that it can offer a simple standard mapping as well as any other mappings a plugin has.

Also being able to right click on a mapping within the Map: Panel and choose New standard or simple insert Mapping would be nice as well. I think Podium exposing all types by default would be better to avoid the problem I encountered.

Interestingly Podium combines the simple drag and drop of Tracktion and more advanced mapping options (for multichannel use) as well. I think my frustration got the better of me before. 😆 Podium scores very highly when handling mappings IMO once you understand it. 😉
