    Hi,
I have installed Yellowtools “Independence Pro” together with the separate effect “Independence FX”. Independence Pro works flawless, but Podium does not load the FX plugin. If I scan (“rebuild”) the VSTs, Podium does not find the .dll, the same with “Import plugin from folder…”, and when I try to load it directly by “Load plugin…”, then Podium tells me: “Could not open plugin”.

Just to make it clear in advance:
The plugins are in the correct folders, and they load and function without problems in other hosts.

My theory is now, that Podium maybe has problems to distinguish between “Independence” (the sampler) and “Independece FX” (the effect rack), either with the file name or the “embedded” name of the plugins. Please note that there is no “_” in the filenames, just a space.
I did not experiment with renaming the files, because I fear that I might loose my registration then.
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance
    Georg

I looked at yellowtools.com, but I could not find a demo download of Independence FX.

I’m guessing it’s something in the way that the IndFX plugin exposes itself as a VST, that causes Podium to mistakingly ignore it.

I’ll try to contact Yellow Tools to see if they can help me out with a test version of Independence FX.

So you bought this in the recent “Fire sale”? 🙂

Yep! “Fire sale”. Great value and very good sound.
You will have to ask them for a copy of the Pro Software Suite; the FX.dll is part of the installer (approx. 250MB). You can install the .dll’s without registration, but have to register them at the first opening via serial number and product code (there is no demo mode). Don’t expect a quick answer, anyway.
    Sorry for disturbing on sunday.

    Thanks
    Georg

    Hi Georg,

I was able to import the plug-in into Podium (Independence FX.dll). The only odd thing I noticed is that it asked me for the Yellow tool root folder twice 😕

Note that I’m running 64-bit Win7 but installed the 32-bit version of the plug-in using compatibility mode.

@Frits, this plug-in loads 12 instances into the Podium devices list that cover a range of input – output options (eg. mono/stereo/surround in, stereo/surround Out).

Are any of these mappings mono/stereo only?

If Independence FX reports that it supports various surround configurations, but not simple stereo in/out, then that can explain why Podium won’t import the plugin into a stereo project.

You can try to manually set up an insert mapping for the “Independence FX.dll” using the Devices list on the start page: Use the “New Copy” right-click menu on the insert mapping for “Independence Pro”. Open the properties dialog for the new mapping. Rename the mapping with “FX”. Replace the plugin path with the path for the FX dll version. Deselect the “device is instrument” option. Select Stereo as both input and output.

No but that doesn’t seem to be causing any problems here.

    The mappings are as follows:

    >Mono to Surround (5.0, 5.1 etc)
    >Stereo to Surround
    >Surround to stereo and,
    >Surround to Surround

I just imported the two .dlls separately. They are located in different folders on the hard drive tho :-k

For some reason I had to rename the Independence Fx.dll before Podium could scan it correctly. The VSTi was fine. I thought maybe a space in the name might be an issue.

The Mappings for the FX.dll look like this in Podium…

Spaces in the filename should not be a problem.

Thanks. As I suspected, these are all surround configurations. Apparently the plugin does not expose itself as a mono/stereo effect. Other hosts maybe just assumes all plugins support mono/stereo. In Podium I rely on the channel configurations reported by the plugin, so that you can have a true surround only plugin not appearing as a non-functional stereo mapping. Does the FX plugin actually support surround sound?

    Hi guys,
    many thanks for your contributions.
I am on XP/32bit. My IndeFX is the current version 2.5.4.

Did the renaming affect the registration? YT is a little bit sparse on registrations (3x); I know one could always ASK them for additional ones, but for now I prefer not to waste them…

    Some overlapping of the postings….

O.k., if I open a project in surround, then the IndeFX loads correctly and seems to work fine (did not try it extensively).
    So, problem appearently located.
Whats the disadvantage of creating stereo files in a surround project?
It would be shame not to use the IndeFX, because sound-wise it is way ahead of my other (usually well regarded, but mostly freeware) FX’s.

    Thanks

Assuming you selected “new stereo and surround project”, then the only difference is that you get additional surround mappings for audio inputs/outputs, busses and plugins, and that all mono/stereo mappings have “mono” and “stereo” added to the mapping names. Working with mono and stereo still works the same way as in stereo-only projects.

    Great.
Many, many thanks to Frits, “Conquistador”, “H-man”.
Great support and community here! – and it’s sunday…

    All the best

    Another suggestion:

If you have a working stereo mapping for Independence FX in a surround project, you could assign the mapping to a track, and save that track as a track template. Then you can create a new stereo project, and load the track template onto a track, which will automatically import the Independence FX stereo mapping.

    Thanks for clarifying. 🙂

Unless I am reading this incorrectly or have missed some detail somewhere it does look like the FX plugin supports surround sound here…

“support of surround formats up to 8.1 with automatic surround channel recognition

independent surround format selection for input and output”

    Hi GeorgeK,

The renaming did not affect registration or activation AFAICT. I was a bit concerned it might. I initially installed the x64 version and then registered and activated the plugin. I then installed the x86 version but the registration and activation appears to be intact. I just avoided the root folder installation a second time.

The YT Independence FX plugin is a nice fit for Podium usage (coming from another FireSale buyer). 😉
