Hi,
I found out about Podium through a news article on KVR and have been testing the 1.51 Demo on my x64 system. So far, I’m very impressed. This looks like one slick app!
Unfortunately I can’t find a way to acess the patches for my Atmosphere or Stylus RMX VSTi’s – two of my favourites. I can load the VSTi’s fine, but only have access to the test tone patches. For some reason the patches are not listed in the “Preset” tab.
I’ve been able to load other VSTi’s fine and access the patches, so the problem appears to be with the Spectrasonics products.
Is anyone else using Atmosphere or Stylus RMX with Podium? On an XP x64 system?
Cheers,
Malcolm.
Hi Malcolm,
Try using the ‘update programs list’ in the track context menu. Podium creates the preset objects during the plugin import, so it’s possible that the Spectrasonics plugins haven’t loaded their programs from disk at that time.

Hi Frits,
Thanks for your fast response. I tried “update programs list” on both plugins but I still can’t see the presets.
Any other suggestions?
Does your other host program allow you to select the presets? I ask because some plugins implement their own native preset browser, which is not exposed through the VST interface to the host.
Yes, I can see the presets using FL Studio, Reaper, or Samplitude Pro.
I know one Podium user that has the Stylus RMX. I’ve contacted him by email to hear if he also has a problem with the presets.

Yes, that would be me! π
Hi malcolmj,
Well I have used Stylus RMX in Podium on many occassions and never had a problem. I assume you mean the problem you have is trying to access the RMX multis/lelements from Podiums preset browser? If that is the case then I don’t think the presets (multis/elements) can be used from there.
THe RMX presets can only be accessed from the built in RMX browser. I also have Samplitude Pro and can also access the mutlis/grooves/suites and elements from within the RMX browser while using Samplitude Pro but not from anywhere else.
I assume your problem is actually trying to reach the RMX multis, elements e.t.c from within the RMX browser/s while working in Podium?
If that is the case I have not had this problem before and you might try re loading the plug in Podium or starting a new test project and see what happens when you load up RMX in Podium.
Failing that, a simple restart of you PC may help. π

Hi Conquistador,
Thanks for your help.
It’s a pity that the Spectrasonics presets can’t be accessed from within the POD Preset tab. It would make things a lot simpler than having to load the RMX/Atmosphere browser, but yes, the same situation exists in Samplitude and FL Studio.
So how do you actually access the RMX or Atmosphere browsers from within Podium? I can’t seem to find out how to do this in the manual. I tried double-clicking on the device from the “devices” page, but all this loaded was a list of outputs. How do I access the VSTi plugin interface?
Cheers,
Malcolm.

Hi there,
You have to activate monitoring in Podium first. The big button bottom left of your screen. When you do that a small E icon will appear on the same track that Stylus is on, next to the x button, click on the E button and…Stylus will appear! Works for all VSTi’s.
I too was confused about this when I first started using Podium. Easy once you know how though. π
If there is another way I do not know it. This way works every time and is simple enough. Of course once Stylus is in view simply access the browsers within Stylus.
Hope that helps. π
Ah, so the real problem was how to open the plugin editor. I’m glad it’s not the Podium preset retrieval that is at fault. I’m currently making some improvements to the track inspector, so I’ll try to make it more obvious how to open the editors. Btw. you can also press the E key shortcut to open the editor for the focus track.

Thanks very much, I can now access the Stylus and Atmosphere browsers π It’s definitely an unsual way of accessing VSTi’s.
So I managed to select the Stylus and Atmosphere patches I wanted and made a test recording, then saved the Project and exited Podium. Unfortunately when I restarted Podium the Project is not remembering the patches I selected. Both VSTi’s load the test tone sound. How do you make Podium remember the patches for Stylus?

The problem was that the method of accessing the patches for Stylus and Atmosphere is quite different to the examples in the “Recording” video. I expected to be able to access the Spectrasonics patches in the same way.

That would be great. I think I’ll print out a copy of the Keyboard shortcuts. π

You need to create a library preset on the plugin track. Press the ‘new’ button in the preset panel.

Thanks, I tried that, and it works.
So at the moment I would have to create a new preset each time I wanted to use a patch in Stylus or Atmosphere. Every other host I use remembers the patch automatically as part of the Project. Are you planning to implement support for this type of use?
Cheers,
Malcolm.

Yes. You need to create a library preset for every track you use with an instance of the plugin. You don’t have to create a new library preset every time you change presets in the plugin browser.

I do intend to support ‘invisible’ presets. If you do not assign a preset object to the track, the plugin settings could be stored as a hidden property of the track. That way you can ignore library presets if you don’t want to reuse presets between tracks.
