I’m frustrated. I want to learn Podium, because I hear so many good things about it. I’ve looked through the tutorials and the guides. I just can’t make it do a damned thing.
I just want to add a sample of a kick drum and play it. That’s all. I can’t find how. I can’t find much help in any of the tutorials. WTF?
I finally found a “List Window” (yeah, that’s where I thought to look) which let me navigate to my samples. Drag, Drop. OK, good. Hit play. All I get is a horrific noise that does not stop when I stop the sequence. It stops about 30 seconds later, thank god.
Ok, forget that it doesn’t work, I want to add some FX to this. How on earth do I do that? No helpful menus or right-clicks give me any clues. Drag and drop from the Devices list works. OK, but I have no idea how or why. Now I want to add a second FX. It tells me I can’t drop there. WTF?
I’m sorry, this is probably my fault. I’m an idiot. But I can make FL Studio do anything I can dream of. When I am looking for how to do something it is almost always right where I expect it.
So I am giving up on Podium for now.
Is there a step-by-step idiots guide somewhere? If so, point me at it. I’d love to love Podium, but I just can’t make it do anything at all.

There is the “getting started” tutorial at the start of the Podium guide. It’s also highly recommendable to watch the new video tutorials created by Podianer:

Been there, I know exactly what you’re talking about. As Zynewave suggested, watch FIRST the getting-started video. Second, you need to know that all effects are chained backwards, which is quite confusing when you start. It’s hard in the beginning. Don’t give up and read first, then rest, then try yourself. Podium (as many other programs) is one of those programs you need to understand its very unique workflow and construction first before you can do anything. There should be a Demosong provided as well (already suggested), but it’s not provided at the moment. Just don’t give up, it’s a great host.

Earlier versions of Podium included demo projects with Free synths/effects.
Are tey available somewhere?
Cheers,

The 3 old demo projects are still included in the installer. You should find them in the “My DocumentsZynewave Podium Projects” folder.

Frits…might it not be a good idea to possibly have at least one demo project in Podium with just the existing zplugs?
No midi just audio to showcase what they can do. I think with the zReverb, zPEQ and now the Zpitch surely a simple audio only project would help showcase these plugs. Just a thought. 😉

That’s the goal. But the zReverb is not included with the demo version, so it’s really only zPEQ that can be used. Maybe I’ll create a demo version of the zReverb plugin (with some parameters locked). I also would like to have zSynth before spending time on creating demo projects.

I did not know that. I am so used to using the full version of Podium, I wrongly assumed the zReverb would be included in the demo. 🙂

Nice idea.

Yes I suppose that way you will then be able to showcase the zplugs with audio and midi. Makes good sense.
