Hey! As some may be able to see, I am a newbie here. So this is my first post. Yay!

However, I am having a problem. When mixing music with the program, I must use a Line 6 UX1. It’s very nice because it allows me to plug in my studio headphones and guitar at the same time, which is normally impossible when my laptop’s phones and mic plugs are not functional. However, the drivers of the UX1 have some sort of friggin death grip on my computer. My computer hardly ever has any problems, and the only few times it has crashed — at OS level — in the 3-4 years I’ve owned it are to do with the UX1. If I unplug the UX1 while Zynewave is using it, this causes it. So comes my latest problem, I accidentally unplugged my UX1 while mixing a song in Zynewave. I had saved the song (AND COMPLETED THE SAVE) about 30 seconds before I unplugged it, however, when I go back to open the song, it says “could not open file (AWYAH.pod)”
Yeah, I know, silly name for a file…
But what really grinds my gears is that the file was not being saved at all when the computer crashed. I would understand that way, but it makes no sense. I would really appreciate if the file could be saved, because I spent quite a long time on it and was starting to really become proud of the work. But now it’s just gone from some strange bug… is there some specific place I should upload the file?

Hi, sorry to hear about the trouble.

Send the file to info at zynewave.com, and I’ll see if it can be salvaged.

Unfortunately the file contains all zeroes, so there is nothing that can be salvaged.

Most likely, the file got corrupted because of harddisk write caching. Even though Podium has finished saving the file and the file is closed successfully with the Windows API, harddisks still have their own internal write caching for speed optimization. If power is lost before the harddisk finishes its write cycle, the file will get corrupted. I’ve now modified the Podium code, so that a disk cache flush is forced after Podium has finished writing a project/sound file, and before the temporary backup file is deleted.
