Would it be possible to add an option that would make double-clicking MIDI notes in the Piano Roll switch from Pencil to Eraser? I played with the Podium demo for only a few evenings before I realized I loved the interface and decided to purchase the program to replace my old sequencer. However I am just so used to double-clicking notes to erase them that I have to actually remind myself to switch to Eraser when I’m writing music. Thanks for reading my suggestion, I’m sure others might appreciate this function but maybe I’m the only one 😆 At any rate, I love Podium! Keep up the good work!!
Which sequencer did you use previously? Are there other hosts that uses double-click to erase?
Hmm, I’m not sure I like the idea of double-clicking to erase stuff. I’d like to have consistency in the UI behaviour. Does anyone else have an opinion on this?
Would key shortcuts to tool selections be a solution?
I think its tracktion, where you can double click a note to delete it.
It is a useful thing to have. I found myself making use of it.
that would drive me crazy!!!
A key combination, or a preference in the ini file to toggle that behaviour would be better. I would like to be able to have a range select with the delete, eg draw a selection box around the notes while the eraser tool is selected. I realise that I could use the selector, and then ctrl+x.. or could the selector respond additionally to the ‘delete’ key?
just me I guess! I can still work efficiently as it is!
I love having the note audition, btw!

I sat down last night in my first semi-serious attempt to get work done in Podium. (good news was that it was great!) I think the only thing that stuck in my head was that I constantly wanted to switch between the various tools, which meant I kept having to move over to the tool selection whenever I needed to change tools.
I kept thinking I needed some sort of way to quickly switch toolbar items to move from one bit of functionality to the next. I was actually going to attempt to boil down my workflow in Podium to make a decent suggestion, but I was too busy having fun and experimenting.
I think the only thing that comes to mind at the moment is the ability to resize a track’s height needs the pencil tool… I think that certain ‘action’ should be available in all the tools… it shouldn’t conflict with anything.
Oh, one more thing… I had a bunch of VSTs imported into Podium before you had VST automation via it’s parameters. I’m assuming I need to reimport them… is there a way to automagically rescan them? I figure it would be helpful for updated VSTs and possible updates/changes to Podium itself.

I agree whole-heartedly. The cursor changes when hovering over the correct resize area…the user doesnt HAVE to re-size it if he doesnt want to :D. The ability to resize regardless of tool selection would be great :).

Not sure if I understand you right, but the ‘delete’ key will delete the current selection; be it selected events, a selected segment or a track.

You probably are aware of this, but the right-click context menu contains shortcuts to tools, so you don’t have to move the mouse all the way to the top toolbar. Maybe I should move the tool shortcuts to the top of the context menu?

The reason I implemented this only for the pencil tool, was that the resize area overlaps the bottom of the track header (depending on the space between tracks as configured in the profile). So you would not be able to edit/drag stuff that was shown only partly at the bottom of the header. Thanks to this thread, I have now seen the light, and implemented it for all tools. Will be available in 1.06.

No magical shortcut, sorry. Suggestion: New project, import plugin, browse to and select the ‘VST Parameters’ folder, copy (Ctrl+C), reload original project, browse, paste (Ctrl+V).
I was using Sonar 3 and I think the function worked in a demo of Fruity Loops that I had tried. A toggle to turn double-click erase or even right-click erase would be just as fine. Or I could just adapt to switching tools like everyone else 😉
