psylevationParticipantWhat do you think about the possibility of drawing a waveform on a group track. Sort of like how you have the “ghost notes” in the midi editors.
That way you can say add a compressor to a parent track, hit ctrl g to make the track small and the waveform is drawn from the audio coming into that track from child tracks on that track in a ghost like form. That way you can still see the waveform while everything is minimized to a small amount of space, without having to move the audio up.
Of course this would be optional for cpu saving reasons…
It think it would be best if it wasn’t live updating, maybe just one time
or being able to refresh it manually. Or maybe even a direct from audio below copy sort of thing. What do you guys think?

It sounds like a good idea but I wonder if something similar can be done already by bounce enabling a group track and simply letting Podium draw a waveform representing child tracks that way, during playback.
Since Podium can provide a real time bounce it can also provide a real time preview of a waveform.
Maybe I misunderstood your idea ๐ but it sounds similar. I think your idea would remove the need to initially bounce enable a group track though to get a wave form during playback.

psylevationParticipantYes this is what I’m talking about. Basically having a preview of the audio in child tracks drawn on whatever track(s) you choose above it. Maybe just an option you choose that says “draw waveform from audio input” or something like that.
As far as live or pre-bounced, I guess that depends on what kind of resources live drawing would take. Or maybe the ability to choose, live or only a bounced “copy” of audio from child track.

psylevationParticipantJust to clarify, not an actual Audio track but just a representation of the one below it…. ๐

psylevationParticipantIt would be cool if this applied to midi tracks as well, it could just read from the closest track below the one “activated” for displaying the “ghost” readout.
After using Podium for a while I’m beginning to think this would be very handy.
Though even more handy would be the zGrid ๐ ๐

It is pretty hot property as far as features go and we don’t even have it yet! ๐ When it does arrive (take your time Frits) it will instantly IMO, be another major selling point for Podium. 8)
It remains at the very top of my list of FR’s ๐
