townkatParticipantThe only software i used that have fully featured this function was acid (or vegas) and this means u can zoom anywhere in the arangement area (only in the tracks area of corse) or in the midi editor or audio editor using the mouse wheel (i belive it is a horizontal zooming if i am not wrong)
the curent mouse wheel function is pretty useless anyway… (at least for me but i think that the intensive users will agree)
even if explaining this in english is not easy for me i hope u fully understanded the idea (if not just try acid or vegas)

duncanparsonsParticipantI disagree that the current mousewheel action is useless. When you have a lrage number of tracks it’s very handy.
However, extra functionality could be provided by use of modifier keys..
eg
Just Mouse Wheel – vertical scroll (as now)
Shift Mouse Wheel – horizontal scroll
Ctrl Mouse Wheel – vertical zoom
Ctrl+Shift Mouse Wheel – horizontal zoom.if playing with the modifiers corrupts other standard functions, then it may be better to have a user definable options for what the mousewheel affects.
Other than that, good topic to bring up 🙂

ZynewaveKeymasterHi townkat,
Default behaviour of mouse-wheel in Podium is vertical scrolling. Holding shift will scroll horizontally. I chose this behaviour in the editors as well. I’m constantly using the wheel to scroll the track list, piano-roll range, and the time range. You can use the wheel for zooming, provided that you press the shortcut keys for activating the zoom tools, i.e. combinations of shift+ctrl+alt.
However, extra functionality could be provided by use of modifier keys..
eg
Just Mouse Wheel – vertical scroll (as now)
Shift Mouse Wheel – horizontal scroll
Ctrl Mouse Wheel – vertical zoom
Ctrl+Shift Mouse Wheel – horizontal zoom.Duncan, that’s pretty close to how it already is working. 😉

townkatParticipantahh, sorry i didnt knew that, its ok this way…
… but maybe when your priorities will be solved you’ll add an option in the setup menu to change what mouse wheel do (probably in a sort of a key bindings menu)

duncanparsonsParticipant😳
Shows much I experiment! I’ve been quite limioted in how much music I can do at the mo – being employed again means that the only music I can do is at lunchtimes (pretty much). However, my lunchtime VST work is improving, since having an IDE open attracts far less attention than this fantastic app!!
