Well, since this is my very first post in this forum, I would like to (as a newcomer to the Podium community) bid you all greetings guys. What an intelligently made and beautiful DAW Podium (Free, the one I use) is.
So I find it appropriate to mention the tools that i use mostly, although some of them may have been discussed earlier. I rely ONLY on freeware plugins so these are ones that I often use particularly for Goa & Psy Trance, and as well as Psybient/Ambient tracks. If you are into Electronic stuff and/or these genres, you might find them very useful.

i love the stuff from this guy…
Some weird plugins over at xoxos.
Phybes and Surface in the physical modelling section are a couple of my favourites.
Hi!
I didn’t really go thru all the stuff you people wrote here, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t see anything about ReaPlugs . Anyways, this is my favorite free vst plugin bundle:
http://www.reaper.fm/reaplugs/
Cheers!
W1 Limiter is a clone of Waves L1.
There is a GUI-less version:
http://www.yohng.com/software/w1limit.html
Version with a GUI:
http://www.betabugsaudio.com/plugs.php
edited to add:
betabugs GUI version is a piece of crap. It looks nice, but the knobs don’t allow any precise work and that makes this great plugin completely useless.
Hi!
For me, the hardest thing to find in the freeware world, aside from a mastering limiter, is a master bus compressor. By the way I choose to post about W1 limiter, because it’s really a great plugin and it saves some serious money. It works great on vocals, drum bus and as a mastering limiter if you like that kind of sound (it’s not really transparent, and there’re some free limiters that are more transparent). My first choice, though (when we’re talking freeware).
So, until now, I’ve found only two compressors that really can do the job on the master bus:
Well known Density mklll:
And, my first choice would be:
http://vladgsound.wordpress.com/plugins/molot/
By the way, I have a little problem with this one in Podium free – it works great, and you can have it on the master bus, group buses, single tracks, as many as you want as long as you don’t make two of them show up on the screen at the same time. Podium freezes right away. So, if anyone else has that problem, please, let me know.
I’m still checking this one – it’s a dual band, and it’s meant for mastering, but I think one can really mix into it:

Cheers

Yes, I too have had problems with this compressor. When I open the plugin GUI, Podium crashes. I did not insist too much, I have uninstalled it immediately.
I tried this compressor:
http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?plugin=Compressive&id=914
You seem prepared on the subject, try it and tell me what you think. 8)
I don’t have that kind of problem. It works great, and I wouldn’t give it up so easily. As I said, Podium freezes when I make more than one Molot show up on the screen, and that’s rather Podium’s problem. Anyway, plugins like Molot are really heavy on cpu, and I would use it only on master bus (problem solved, unfortunately, only for me).
I’ll check out that one. I’ve seen it before, but I’ve never downloaded it (and there are not lot of them I haven’t checked) but now, when you say…. 🙂
Tnx and cheers

I didn’t have the same trouble you did with running multiple GUIs.
I am unable to get it into sidechain mode though. :HELP: When I imported the plugin I didn’t get a multitimbral instances automatically so made the necessary objects (images below). If I can’t get it to run in this mode, like Me le suono, will probably uninstall it.
And yes, W1 Limiter and Density are good compressors 🙂

Martin Eastwood’s Compressive is great for sidechain compressing. I don’t use the particular build you cite. I use the one bundled with ComputerMusic Magazine. The difference being it has a brickwall limiter. 🙂

Hey Levendis, no need to uninstall this great plugin 🙂
There was a version of Molot with disabled external sidechain here at the bottom of the page:
http://vladgsound.wordpress.com/page/2/
…So maybe that’s your version. Just go ahead and get the proper version from here: http://vladgsound.wordpress.com/plugins/molot/
Just make sure that after you set the routing in Podium you click on the small arrow sign on the bottom left, and from there right click “Sd.Chain” to become external and that’s it.
Hope that helped.
All the Best

CymaticCycle is right. You can find both versions if you click on the link I posted. So, just get yourself the other version 😀
Cheers!
@ CymaticCycle & alex
Thanks heaps guys 😀
It was a case of installing the wrong version.
Works great now!
I fully endorse super_crunchy‘s recommendation for Stardust.
For quick and easy beefiness, I grab Rough Rider.
@ Me le suono! and Levendis
Tnx guys!
Compressive is great! I was checking out Antress modern compressors one by one :frustrated: :frustrated: :frustrated: (as a matter of fact, they’re not that bad, but they’re not what I read they were, not by a long shot). So, right after that I downloaded Compressive and 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 Valve button is a killer! 😉
You’re welcome! You propose topics for discussion very interesting!
I had fun making a short video about this plugin in Podium Free:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8vXnoOxlzQ&feature=plcp
It’s banal but I hope it can still be useful to someone! 😉
