Some manglers from Anarchy Sound Software
Try this: FreeZZZZZer or FreeZZZZZer2.
I don’t know what use might have, but it’s too funny! 😀

I’ve been hoping to come across such a plugin. Thanks Me le suono!
It was a little awkward getting full functionality out of it:
I used CombiNatOr synth (by the same developer) which ultimately crashed. But while it was running, FreeZZZZZer2 did a great job of holding even smooth-textured sounds.
Looking forward to exploring it thoroughly 🙂

Me too!
I always use this plugin as a instrument.
With the audio material that is very simple because the instrument and the clip using two different “routes” and therefore they do not “fight”.
With midi sequences, I create a Group Track with the FreeZZZZZer and then I insert the tracks of the other tools I want to use as “childs” of the Group Track. In this way, the effect is applied in cascade (is english, boh?) to all the instruments and I can choose to play the FreZZZZZer live or with a midi sequence.
Almost always use this method for other plugins (vocoder and autotune…), it will not be efficient but is simple and most importantly, it works.

That works perfectly! 😀
I wasn’t sure whether a plugin on an instrument slot would process audio from child tracks. You’ve made my day discovering that it does. YAY
Wow, and I see Podolski got a handsome face lift and new presets! I have the original version off the German Keyboard mag and it is somewhat u-he-gly. Sweet little thing nonetheless — Poldolski is to Filterscape VA what Zebralette is to Zebra 2.
I’ve been going through the kvr database and the freeware suggestions made on this forum, and have compiled this list:
http://zynewave.com/recommended-freeware-plugins/
It’s been a while since I last checked out the available freeware plugins so I may have missed some obvious candidates for the list. Please check out the page, and let me know if you have suggestions for additions or if you have experienced problems with any of the listed plugins.
Eventually I will link to the page on the Podium and Podium Free product pages.
Good initiative. I’ve used/tested at some point all of the mentioned plugins (except for Amplifikation Lite) and don’t remember having issues with them.
I recently went all 64 bit, keeping some old x32 only plugins for old projects, and intended to bump this thread with my list of x64 ones, which is more or less the same as this list, with some additions…
Samplers
TX16Wx
Linux Sampler (it loads .gig files)
Synths
Green Oak – Crystal
http://www.greenoak.com/crystal/dwnld.html
Tunefish – awesome sound capabilities. It is the current KVR One Synth Challenge synth, and the developer (payne_bc) is admirably quick to fix all the little quirks and bugs, so by the time it reaches v4 it will be an even better synth.
Here’s the link for the latest beta as of today:

Very good list, I do have most of them and works great with Podium Free.
Here are some more vsts I use with Podium Free and find them to be very good. The only issues I’ve ever had were with EpicVerb from VOS, when it was quarantined. I’ve never went back to check with the new DAW I have now.
I don’t know if these were mentioned before, if so, just ignore.
http://www.uvi.net/en/software/uvi-workstation.html – great workaround for adjusting loops tempo and not only
http://reaper.fm/reaplugs/index.php – great package, includes a multiband compressor and a multieffect (FIR) great for noise reduction

Thanks for the suggestions. I’m going through them right now.
@Pulse: AxTube?
I tried MauSynth x64: When the plugin editor is open, it intercepted some Podium key shortcuts (such as Ctrl+z), and changing presets in the track inspector did not work.
The purpose of the page is to give a good introduction to VST plugins for new users. This means that I’ll only include plugins where I can link to a download page that has clear download instructions. IMO, that disqualifies LinuxSampler and various others. I even had problems with the Voxengo pages, where I managed to download several demo versions of commercial plugins, before I noticed the actual download links were above the plugin description. It’s clearly written in the text, but I was just quickly looking for download link buttons.
I also have a problem with UVI Workstation. When installing, it asks to install the PACE license system. I’ve had plenty of bad experiences with this years ago, so I stay away from that. A shame, because the UI screenshots look beautiful.
I’m even considering removing Independence Free from the list, because it pops up an annoying dialog during Podium plugin scanning, asking for registration. Not a smooth user experience.
Oh, sorry, my mistake
X-Tube by Xenium Audio
Several versions ago it was crashing Podium every time I tweaked a parameter. With the updates it behaved correctly irc, but haven’t used it in a while so there might still be some issues, idk.
http://www.xeniumaudio.com/downloads.php#XTube
By the way, yesterday Nick Crow updated TubeDriver to v1.3.
Well, you’ll do what’s best, and I do not know how the download/register procedure is now for Independence (I saved a version I downloaded from YellowTools site a while ago), but I have to say this IS the BEST freeware sound module I’ve tried. It really is. In my opinion, would be a pity to miss it. Also, when I installed both this and UVI there were no problems once the installation was completed.
The DDMF ColourEQ x64 has noisy clicks and occasional loud pops whenever I adjust any of the frequency parameters with sound playing. Anyone else notice this?
Edit: I’ve updated the page with what I have tested so far:
