super_crunchyParticipantHi Frits
There is a new product out from FXpansion called GURU, it’s a beatbox VST. I was beta testing it before and it never synced with Podium properly.
One of the developers of it got back to me and said
After some looking, Podium is apprently to blame (in my opinion), and this sort of thing is best fixed on their end.
Maybe you could ask the developers look at their PPQPos and samplePos as these seem to be doing some weird things (compared to any other host).
samplePos should be resetting when the transport resets. BarstartPos does, but samplepos just runs and runs.
Probably not very nice that they send a negative PPQpos sometimes either… but I suspect the running samplePos as the culprit.
I’d think it would make more sense for Podium to correct the issues, as GURU code runs great on many hosts and platforms, and as of now GURU doesn’t need host-specific sync code (which is what you’d hope for with any plugin format).
Hope this makes sense.
SteveThere is no downloadable demo as yet so I can’t ask you to try it out for yourself, but does what Steve said make sense? Does it explain why this plugin wont sync to Podium?
Thanks Frits, I just wanted to check it out before I bought it. No use getting it if it won’t work with my sequencer of choice 😉 Demo should be available in the next few weeks

ZynewaveKeymasterHi,
Even with this description, I can’t do anything about it until there is a demo of GURU. Please let me know when it is out.

super_crunchyParticipantHi Frits
Demos of Guru have been released on KVR, can you take a look at it when you manage to find a spare moment, some time? You’ll just need the last download link
This is in regards to the plugin not syncing in time with Podium
Cheers
Demos are now (unofficially) up.
Three varieties:-
— Large: ~150m download ( 4 demo songs, 200 loops, 50 kits, 800 one-shots — about 15% of the total content)
— Medium: ~50m download ( 3 demo songs, 65 loops, 25 kits, 250 one-shots — about 5% of the total content)
— Small: ~10m download (1 demo song, no loops, 10 kits, 100 one-shots)Mac OS X:-

super_crunchyParticipantnon aggressive *bump*

ZynewaveKeymasterI have installed the demo and reproduced the problem. I’ve also figured out what I need to do to make it work with GURU, but I’ll need a couple of days concentrated work on that, to make sure I don’t break compatibility with other syncing plugins.

super_crunchyParticipantthanks again frits. do you want a list of other plugins to test with? i can think of a few, all of which seem to have their own way of syncing from my experience

ZynewaveKeymasterdo you want a list of other plugins to test with?
Thanks, but I don’t think that is necessary.
