Hi there,
I found out about Podium at kvr by accident. As i am looking for a host i downloaded it ,understood f@ck all about the way it works and gave up.BUT having LOVED the way it looked i gave it another try ,figured it out and although it needs some futher development i was very impressed.CONGRATULATIONS.I reckon that in a years time Podium will easily kick every other hosts ass hands down.
Now, i am using it with fl studio as a vsti so i will like to ask something. Is it possible to record from a controller(my keyboard) straight into the fl studio piano roll and how?I would record into a podium midi track and then export the midi file to FL but from what iunderstand this is not possible yet.
Also i would like to see the inclusion in the sound editor of something similar to the “prossess gain” in cubase. Is this possible?
Volume faders in the mixer is a must too…
Thank u very much,
Cheers…
Hi antem,
I don’t know about fl studio vsti but I can record midi notes through Podium into the energyXT sequencer.
Regarding faders in the mixer, you already have vol and pan dials but you can add automatable level and pan sliders to any track. For example: highlight the track you want to use then click on the ‘Param’ tab in the track inspector on the far left and highlight the ‘mixer’ button. Next, either drag the parameter marked ‘level’ across to the track you want, making sure it is feeding into it. Or right click on the level parameter and select
‘Assign to separate track’
I think it’s designed this way to keep the mixer as streamlined as possible because you only need to add faders where you need them.
I hope my answer isn’t too hard to follow 😕 🙂

PS. I’m not sure what ‘process gain’ in Cubase is…
Hey kingtubby, thanks for the quick reply
Can u tell me how do record midi notes into the energyxt sequencer and not into Podium?I mean do u adjust any settings and if so which?
Regarding the faders, i allready figured that option out but thanx very much anyway…
What i meant with ‘process gain’ is the option to add or remove db’s(volume) to/from a waveform(or part of it) in the sound editor.
Cheers…
I must admit that I hadn’t tried recording into XT via Podium before I read your post so maybe my hurried results aren’t quite the answers you’re looking for. I don’t know how familiar you are with XT but all I did is insert XT onto a track then connect up the internal sequencer in XT, load a vsti into it then hit record (again, in the XT seq) and the midi is recorded independently of Podium. I presume you can run fl studios’ sequencer independently of Podium?
However, maybe you want it all to run in sync and that’s where the problems seem to arise.
I can’t seem to get Podium and XT to sync transport controls so I have to start recording in Podium then manually start XT – not much use 😕 –
I’m sure it must be possible to get both sequencers to sync-up – I’ll have to have another look at things.
Cheers,
Mart.
OK, I worked out how to sync transport controls between Podium and XT, though you can’t start them both recording at the same time. However that’s getting away from your question.
To keep it simple – Once you’ve inserted fl-studio onto a track with the correct midi-input mapping, I presume you can then run fl’s internal sequencer in record mode and play away. Just make sure that the Podium track isn’t record-enabled and the midi notes will pass through to fl-studio.
Mart.
Thanx for the effort kingtubby, but it doesnt work like that with FL.
Guess i will better visit the FL forum instead as it is an FL issue and not a Podium one.
Thanx again…
Oh well, nevermind – I might download the fl-studio demo and have a look anyway, just out of interest…

Hi antem,
What i meant with ‘process gain’ is the option to add or remove db’s(volume) to/from a waveform(or part of it) in the sound editor
That’s a good suggestion. I was thinking of creating a dialog box that would allow you to set up a gain change value, and optional fade in and fade out times. I’ll add it to the plan.
Thanks for the help Martin. I don’t have further knowhow about recording into eXT or Fruityloops. But if you can use your MIDI keyboard to play the Fruityloops synths through a track in Podium, and if you can get the Fruityloops sequencer to sync with Podium playback, then it should be possible to make the Fruityloops plugin record the received notes into its own sequencer.

Hi Fritz!
Thanx for the response.
And yes ,it is possible to make the Fruityloops plugin record the received notes into its own sequencer.
All u have to do (in case someone else is interested) is check the “record automation” box in the FL audio settings. This option only appears when FL is inserted as a dxi/vsti in another host and it works only when FL is in pattern mode.
I got this information today in the FL forum(thank u Leafhopper) ,so now we know…
Cheers …
P.S Without wanting to be an ass, can u tell me when the next update will be available and how it’s going on with the manual?
can u tell me when the next update will be available and how it’s going on with the manual?
The next update will only contain minor improvements/fixes and it will be released within a week. The last couple of weeks I have been doing some research that will be put to use in a later release. So the manual has been on hold for a while. I’ll get back to it soon.
