I noticed that the Track panel is IMO strangely the furthest panel from the Group Panel when it is in view.

This seems strange because out of all the panels in the inspector, I would have thought the Track Panel is the closest feature wise compared to other panels.

If one is in the Group Panel you will still need to access the Solo Mute and Record buttons in the Track Panel but the Param: Preset: Map: and Input: Panels are needlessly IMO placed between the Group Panel and the Track Panel.

Drag enabling the panels would allow us to move them around as needed especially as the Group panel can take up quite a bit of space in the Inspector with 4 or 5 tracks visible at the same time.

I’ve thought about moving the “Track” panel to the top of the list. What kept me from doing it so far, is that it will mean a few changes that may affect users workflow:

The F1-F5 keys need to be shuffled around, so that F1 instead of F5 will open the Track panel.

Today, clicking the header of an open panel will close it towards the top, meaning the remaining panels slides on top of the closed panel. This way the bottommost panel will always be the default open panel, and therefore I placed the Track panel at the bottom. If the Track panel is placed at the top, then closing a panel needs to slide it to the bottom of the inspector, i.e. the clicked panel will slide away from the mouse. Little things for sure, but that’s why I placed the Track panel at the bottom. At some point I’ll experiment with placing it at the top.

I cannot speak for anyone else of course but I would guess that might be a minor change for most I would think, especially if the panels could be drag enabled in return for that change.

Good points…I can now see why you did things that way but…

    Thanks. 🙂
