    Hi community,

    first post, hello everybody!

I need to use the left side of a stereo file on a separate monotrack. Any ideas how to achieve this?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi speedy,

If you right-click on the audio file and select ‘Sound Properties’ on the menu, there’s a ‘Channel/Speaker configuration’ which allows you to select what channel(s) to use.

If you’re using the stereo file and want a sepearate mono file, copy the stereo file to a new track and use ‘Convert to Unique Copy’ (Ctrl+U) before you change the channel/speaker configuration.

Another method, where you don’t have to modify the sound properties:

    • Open the sound in the sound editor.
    • Select all (Ctrl+A).
    • Toggle the channel select buttons to select the channel(s) you want.
    • Use the “Export Selection to Sound File” command in the File menu.
