PodianerParticipantHi Frits,
Are sound files deleted, when their corresponding tracks are deleted and when the project is saved then? My project folder has over 10 gb by now, and I believe that there are way too much files in there. Any chance to find orphan files?

ZynewaveKeymasterThe sound files are not deleted. You can see what sound files are actually used by the project in the list window file panel. Sound files that are linked to sound objects in the current project are indicated with a pin head.

Just make sure they don’t belong to another project.

PodianerParticipantI cannot delete them via the file browser.. π

No. I haven’t had the ‘guts’ to implement a file delete command yet. It’s on the plan. You’ll need to use the Windows explorer.

PodianerParticipantThis will take ages.. to find all the files and delete them via a parallel browser. Hopefully you get this implemented soon.

ZynewaveKeymasterI’ll see what I can do. I’m currently working on creating file folders for new projects and sub-folders for arrangements. Deleting orphan sound files are more safe when the project is contained in its own folder.

Thanks for looking into this area of Podium Frits. It will make a huge difference on the project management side of things. 8)
A question for you though…does this include sub folders for audio used in each arrangement or per arrangement within a project?
I ask this because Podiums Project approach works very well and it is very easy to manage an Album within a Podium Project, especially with the new screen in 1.66.
For instance managing an Album as a Project you can simply create as many arrangements within that Project (Album) to represent each song.
However…it appears Podium will save each arrangement within a POD file which is still ok, but the audio used for each arrangement (very likely to be different) is also put into the same folder…not very desirable IMHO.
Effectively I am talking about per arrangement audio folders.
You said “sub folders for arrangements” which I wecome with both hands but are we talking about the exact same thing when I am asking about per arrangement audio folders?
If not…
Are your currrent feature development plans with folders going to in some way or the other, allow separate folders to also be created for audio files within each arrangement?

ZynewaveKeymasterSo far I’ve implemented a ‘new projects folder’ setting in the preferences dialog. This will default to the ‘Zynewave Podium Projects’ folder that the installer creates, but you can change this. When you save a new project that hasn’t been saved yet, it will automatically be saved as a sub-folder in the ‘new projects’ folder. The sub-folder will be named after the project. You can override the sub-folder creation by using the ‘save as’ menu. Each new sound you create in the project will be saved in a sub-folder structure similar to the folder placement within the project. Sounds created in arrangements will thus be placed in sub-folders of the project folder, named after the arrangement. Again you can override this by saving the sounds manually with ‘save as’.

Sounds like this will be a global Podium project folder for all Podium projects.
Thanks for the option to change the location, as I will very likely have to choose a different location. 8)When you create a new project it will automatically be saved as a sub-folder in this folder. This looks really good. Thanks for the update Frits. π

P. ReneParticipantcool, so does this mean per song we have a folder and subdirectory saying audio, fades and so forth and so on.

You have one project file which contains all arrangements and sequences in the project. Only the sound files are saved as separate wav files, and they will be saved in separate folders for each arrangement.

That is very good! It will end the “chaos” I find in my project folder. π
The deletion of orphan files is very important for me, too. I hope this will come soon.
