darcyb62ParticipantI’m trying to record a bass line. I do this in multiple takes/sections….
I’ll record the 1st section… Let’s say the 1st 4 bars…
I move that section to a parallel track. I do this just to keep things straight in my head. I’ll the set the curser to bar 5. Make sure the recording track is armed. Draw in a segment at the curser, hit play. It doesn’t record. If I move the curser to the beginning and start from their it records no problem. This used to work, so I’m not sure what I’ve done…
Help….

ZynewaveKeymasterThe timeline segment you are trying to record should be highlighted in red if all is set up properly. If you are using punch-in then move it to the start of the segment you want to record.

darcyb62ParticipantThe time line is red.
And the curser is at start of the punch in…Funny thing is if I disable all recording, remove the input, put the input back on the track, set recording, set curser, draw in a segment, sometimes it works.
If I record from the beginning it always records…

ZynewaveKeymasterIs your arrangement using sample or bar/beat time resolution?
draw in a segment
Note sure what you mean with this. If you mean you draw a sound event with the pencil tool, then you don’t need to do this. Starting recording will automatically create the events.
If playback is started after the punch-in location, then the recording is not activated. Make sure you position the punch-in with quantize snap enabled.

darcyb62ParticipantOkay… I think I might be using punch in incorrectly…
The reason I was using the pencil tool to draw in a sound event is that if I didn’t do this the recording would just add to the previously recorded event instead of treating it as a seperate event, which is what I want. I’ll have another look at this later.
Thanks.

darcyb62ParticipantIt was “punch in”… Can’t recall enabling it though. Turned it off and everything works as expected.

If you use punch-in it will create a new sound event at the punch-in position and not append to the previous event on the track.
