I use Podium Free as a MIDI editor, but my plugins are actually hosted in another DAW (Cantabile Solo) for various reasons. I use a virtual midi cable (loopMIDI) to get the MIDI from Podium to Cantabile. However, I’d like to do an offline render in Cantabile (my computer is too slow to just record the audio output), and for that I need to get a MIDI file (not real-time data) out of Podium and into Cantabile. I know Podium can “Export to MIDI file”, but my question is,
Does Podium put the parameter automation data into the MIDI file that it creates when I hit “Export to MIDI file”? Can that information even be stored in MIDI files?

Only the values of the actual point events are saved in MIDI files. If you use line or spline point automation, you’ll need to convert those to bar points. You can use the “transform to grid aligned points” command (uses the editor grid value), and then “convert to bar points”.

Thanks for the quick reply! I guess the issue is with my VST host, not Podium.
