I’m seeing some features request that only would use few computer musicians and I think they’re difficult to implement. But I like other ones a lot and seems the most requested:
– MIDI controller learn/mappings for plug-in automation
– Audio time stretch
– Support composite tracks also for MIDI
– Flexible MIDI routing and plugins support
– Quick way to split existing events at the point of mouse cursor (sth like modifier-click)
– File management: an option to copy imported wavs to the project folder like conquistador says, or an ableton live like “save and collect” menu item (I’d prefer the latter, if I had to chose)
– Option to avoid keyboard focus for devices, allowing switch focus from device to Podium with a hotkey. This will allow use space bar to play/stop while program a plugin. = fucking annoying
– Windows compliant drag and drop: this would allow to drag wav files from podiums browser onto a sampler plugin or a bounced track from the timeline straight to your desktop.
Anyway, there isn’t nothing new with those request guys π But yes, they’re needed, and they’re basic things.
They’re others also very requested a couple of times (and I like it too):
– I’d like to have a Portable edition of Podium.
It seems that all existent program / plugin wants to hoard your system, they’re in “program files” folder, in windows start menu, in windows registry, in application data folder… etc etc. And the truth is that with a single .exe file Podium works, and other plugins with a simple dll file work too. They’re pretty comfortable because you can go to any place with them in a protected usb stick and continue your projects as you leaved them, without install nothing.
Podium is half-portable already, if you copy the .exe to a usb stick and you run in another PC it works. You can carry with you few skins, templates and zPlugins, but as each PC have different units you must change folders in Podium configuration for each computer.
And special mention to the finest FR, IMO, it isn’t a FR although:
-speedness, smoothness, clean graphics , good workflow (actually i think its already achived, but for me its a nΒΊ1 feature to always keep in mind for future updates)
best regards π
Interesting thoughts… π
For me the idea Frits came up with for “Marker Linking” in the 2.31 thread and a way to offer a much more creative experimental workflow in Podium ALMOST made my list. I would say it is probably no. 5.1 out of the 5 I listed in the Competitions thread. π
I would absolutely love to see that in Podium (effectively a Zynewave answer to Blocks but potentially better) but those 5 I listed are still ahead (only just though). π
I also love things like block, but I thought it was too advanced so I didn’t requested them. I’d rather to see basic need satisfied π
One of Kyrans top 5…and worth another mention here IMO.
A simple way to select a file and then “Open in External editor” would be nice. Some way to link the .exe file (for the external Editor) chosen by a user to a command to open the file externally should work.
So once the file is selected in Podium and the command (“Open in External editor”) is selected, then whatever app is specified or path to the .exe file in for instance Podiums Preferences, will be opened up automatically with the file inside the External app.
The command “Open in External editor” within Podium would effectively be similar to right clicking on a file in Windows Explorer and choosing “Open with” That of course will trigger the chosen app to start with the selected file.
In Podium “Open in External editor” will do the same thing but from within Podium. Some features are simply not available yet so this is still necessary IMO while Podiums feature set is still growing in key areas.
Some way to then save changes to a file and update that in Podium would be even better still. Perhaps if Podium detects the file has been changed it can simply replace the original or create a new file and ask the user if he/she would like to replace the old one in the arrangement.

I answer you with another kyran top 5 (and one of my favorites):
3. Windows compliant drag and drop: this would allow to drag wav files from podiums browser onto a sampler plugin or a bounced track from the timeline straight to your desktop.
This is the basic need to update the changes in a wav file π
I’d like to point to a MelodyMan request:
4. A quick, one-touch recording option.
Since I don’t need such thing I can see why it’s useful. ATM you can create a track template which is armed and with input selected. So you only need to create the template, press K on your keyboard and Play to start recording. It isn’t a one touch recording way but its pretty close, so it will help you meanwhile, well, I think π

Thanks π !
+1 more for midi inline editor, i forgout about it, and its one thing i would like to see in podium,
thanks.
There is something that is great in Tracktion and in Mulab : you can move a plugin that is in a mixer strip to another mixer strip : just drag and drop it.
In Podium, you have to save a preset in the plugin, delete the plugin in the initial mixer strip, open the plugin in the other mixer strip and then load the saved preset in the plugin.
