kill_em_allParticipantHello,
Just downloaded Podium Free, it looked all promising setting it up, but when trying to start recording or even playing back midi, play button does nothing. Am I missing smth that basic?
Thanks, congrats for the looks btw, visually it’s perfect for my tastes.

kill_em_allParticipantSeems it has a problem with my ASIO (Focusrite) driver…

kill_em_allParticipantHi, is there a solution to this? switching to the windows non-asio driver it plays ofcourse with very bad glitches and latency) but with ASIO it doesn’t work at all.
Thanks.

z_sfyrParticipantIt’s very common for people to use ASIO For All – freeware that seems to work with everything. I believe this is true regardless of DAW & interface. I use it with Podium & have never had any problems with the interfaces I have used. Worth a go.

kill_em_allParticipantThanks for the reply. Fact is, neither ASIO works (4ALL or the soundcard’s driver). The Windows one is glitchy, so I can’t test Podium unfortunately.

adimatisParticipantOne thing you should be careful about is not to have some other program locking your ASIO driver, so that Podium can not run.
In practice, an example of what happened to me once: I recorded in DAW (cannot remember if Podium or something else) then I opened a wave file into an external editor, that was also set to use ASIO. To my wonder, it did not work at all, that is no playing, stucked, locked, dead. And then I realize that the Rec Button was still on in my DAW, and this way the driver was locked, so the external editor could not run. That is, the ASIO driver could only access or be accessed only by one application in the same time.
Have a look if this might be the case with you. Otherwise, ASIO whould really work. ASIO4all is particularly good for pretty much all the sound cards around.

kill_em_allParticipantThis could be the case, but it’s a Podium issue only. I know that ASIO for ALL has this limitation to one process only, but the driver that came with the sound card lets me have a DAW active, and hear YouTube at the same time for example. So Im guessing Podium imposes some rule on the sound driver that other daw’s dont. Thanks

ZynewaveKeymasterWith all the recent reports about ASIO driver problems, I’m thinking I should put a higher priority on implementing WASAPI driver support, and remove the old WAVE driver support.

kill_em_allParticipantI don’t understand if this will disadvantage others that now have no problem with the drivers(can’ t there be a switch option?), but anyway, thanks for looking into the issue.

ZynewaveKeymasterIt won’t affect the current ASIO support in Podium. It will just be an alternative driver you can select in the Interfaces dialog.
