Topic: Kontakt 4 problems

    I just installed kontakt 4 (after switching out dvd’s for like 12 hours while the library to installs, but that’s another story) and it doesn’t play nice with podium.

    Each time I add an effect, change the track selection, hit play/pause, move the playback indicator, whatever it causes kontakt to reload it’s samples, which is annoying as hell because I can’t do anything while kontakt’s file loading dialog is up (and it removes focus from podium, so I first need to click podium before any shortcuts start working again), not to mention playback halts: so if I change track selection playback halts for about 4 seconds while kontakt reloads it’s samples.

    Kontakt 3 did not have this behaviour. I also checked kontakt 4 in a few other hosts (ableton live and ext2, I’ll try in some others later on), and it does not happen their either, so I’m guessing it’s something podium sends to kontakt.

    Please help me out here, otherwise I just wasted 70 euro on a komplete upgrade!

    I’m using the 4.05 Kontakt Player, without such problems.

    Did you update Kontakt to the latest 4.1?

    Does it happen in a new arrangement, with only one Kontakt insert mapping assigned?

    Does it happen with all the multi-out variants of the dll?

    Hey Frits, I figured it out, thanks to your tips.

    I’m running the latest 4.1 version, which changes the way samples are loaded.

    I had just updated the kontakt 3 device maps to point to the kontakt 4 dll. When I use the import plugin function and create new device maps the problem goes away.
    (I found this out, because I didn’t have the multi out dll’s mapped)

    Just as a side note: NI really needs to get their act together. They write uninstallers that don’t uninstall anything. I tried to remove absynth 4 and every single file just stayed on my system. After running the uninstaller I could still run that program.
    Their installers are also crap, Guitar Rig 4 didn’t install its presets, kontakt 4 can’t find half the factory content.

    It just makes me realize what a great job you do.
