🙂 Well, more or less.
I’ve recently upgraded my old Pentium D 3.06 Ghz to a new computer that I’ve got for a very good price I believe – an Dell Optiplex 790 i5 2400, 4 gb ram, very silent, very capable, a pure joy to use as a DAW.
Of course, I had to re-install all the programs again, Podium Free included.
It is a huge difference in performance, I tell you, even for that one core that Podium Free uses, so I can only imagine how much is possible with all the power available in Podium, by using all four cores! Amazing, I am sure.
And here’s come my love/hate message: I started working on a project that really needs a form of time-stretching (for now the workaround is to use UVI Workstation and the new Zampler RX, that can handle a form of TS, namely to adjust the loops to the tempo). I would not use another DAW (Studio One Free I am talking) even though it has a TS feature that would help me tremendously, because I am so used to work in Podium… And I feel at home with it, so it’s the DAW of choice being so perfect for my needs in almost all areas, but it limits me in this particular one a great deal. Now I have a very capable PC, some nice libraries, but just one missing feature.
I love using Podium, but I hate not having Time-Stretch when needed.
Anyway, in the same time I have to say I am again and again amazed how Frits managed to put in this DAW exactly what anyone will need to be able to create a great piece of work, without useless features that sometimes just gets you distracted.
Is Podium 4 releasing anytime soon? 😉
