No sound with my Revolution 7.1
Go to the report page in the interfaces dialog, save a report, and send it to me. This will be a help for me to determine what goes wrong.
The report you sent me shows no signs of errors. All appears to be working.
Could you try with the simplest way to make sound in Podium:
Select ‘New Project’ from the file menu. Import or drag&drop a wave file into Podium. Enter the sound editor for the sound object. Press play. The sound file should be playing on the first pair of audio output channels that you enabled in the interfaces dialog.
If this doesn’t make sound then I’m afraid there’s not much I can do about it until I get access to a Revolution card to test with. I seem to recall that other Podium users are using M-Audio interfaces. Anyone had success with the Revolution 7.1 card?
Thought I would give it another try but no go. Not only do I have a new sound card but I have a whole new system and still can’t get any sound. I set up my sound card and everything…. anyway, sending a report.
As you are throwing this one open Frits… 8)
Hi J. Baker, this may be a long shot but have you tried these two possible solutions…
1. A complete shutdown and re boot – sounds obvious I know, but this simple operation has solved many issues I have had with sudden silences from my card. Which is extremely rare.
2. Try going into the Control panel and then clicking on the Sounds Speech and Audio devices link then click on the Sounds and devices link.
Once you have done this click on the Audio tab. In the Sounds playback field is your M Audio Revolution set up as the Default device: ?
Long shots, but just offering assistance. 😉

Hi,
Got the report, and if your new soundcard is a SB Live!, then it seems to be correctly configured. You have selected Wave drivers though, which is not going to give you optimal performance. If your soundcard is supplied with an ASIO driver, you should select this instead. Alternatively try the http://www.asio4all.com driver, which can provide very low latency.
When you start Podium, make sure that you have no other applications open that is using the soundcard.
If you still can’t get any sound, email me the project file. I’ll be able to tell if it is something in the setup that has gone wrong.

Thanks, project file sent.
Oh and still no go with asio4all.
Project received, though it appears to be just a copy of the freebees example project. I thought you had tried to create your own project.
When you enter into one of the song arrangements and try to play, do you get red warning popup buttons on the tracks with the plugins? If so, then it is because Podium could not find the plugins at the location specified in the project file. If you open the project wizard, the plugins panel will then instruct you how to search for the plugins.
All this of course also requires that you have installed the plugins used by the example project.

Yes this is what’s happening. Most programs inlude the vst’s used in their examples. This would have saved alot of confusion.
Also, I’m going to have to see some tutorials. I can’t even figure out how to start using this thing. Currently using Orion and all you have to to is launch it, insert vst and start editing. Doesn’t seem this simple with Podium.
Thanks for the help.

All I can offer at the moment, is the getting started page in the guide, and the five video presentations on the home page. Regular tutorials are few at the moment. Only a couple made by Podium users linked in the Tutorials topic.
I’m glad we settled that it wasn’t a soundcard issue. Thanks for trying out the program.
