    hi everyone,

My case is similar to another user’s whose post I found in the index – I’m a complete newb to midi recording and having got a clue what’s what. Basically, I’m trying to record some piano playing, and no notes are appearing on the screen or being heard through the computer.

    What I’m doing:

I’ve set the midi inputs and outputs, clicked R to arm the track, then I’ve clicked record AND then play.

    what’s happening:

The little input detector button in the bottom right flashes yellow each time I hit a note (see screen grab), so obviously an input signal is being detected, but again, no notes appear on the screen. The attached screen shot shows how the screen looks after several seconds of me banging notes.

Here’s a screen grab to show the settings

screen grab of podium free in use

I’d really appreciate any help. can’t figure this out at all. Thanks!

    Hi,

You should have an instrument loaded (presumably 4front piano in this case) in the ‘source’ selector, just above the ‘midi in’ selector, in the track header.

Edit: also, you’d generally only use midi-out to send notes to an external instrument i.e hardware.

Thanks very much. I’ll try that.
