Hi, i’m playing with recording vstis right now : when i record in loop mode allways the first note will NOT be recorded – does not depend on the vsti!! – i allways start with an audiorecording and play it in loop to create beats and leads and stuff …
or am i missing something?

Do you mean MIDI input recording or VSTi audio bouncing? MIDI loop recording is not yet supported, so if you record MIDI input with looping enabled the notes will be overlaid onto the same sequence. One of the next releases will support MIDI loop recording using the same audio multi-take system that was introduced in this 2.08 release.
Wow, Frits your respond times are TOP!!
yes i mean midi input recording!! i found it working except for the first note!! every other note is recorded properly so i did not expect it to be not implemented …
btw i did not find a way to have a 2bar precount upon recording?

michi
I split your posts from the 2.08 release topic into this support topic.
What kind of MIDI controller are you recording with?
If the first note wasn’t recorded, does that mean it didn’t sound in the VSTi as well?
There is a “roll back” option in the preferences/metronome page. So if you need two bars lead, you should start your recording at bar 3.
i use an m-audio axiom 25 controller …
well i do hear the first note but it is not recorded – i figuered this out with drumatic3 for drums. strange thing is : this does not happen when i do recording WITHOUT loop activated!?!?!?
hm, i will have to do some “research” with this rollback option – couldn’t tell podium to precount 2 bars before start recording – but that is some kind of RTFM 🙂

michi
The recording of the first note should not depend on whether looping is enabled or not. I just tried here on my system, and I can record the first note fine with looping enabled.
Be aware that if you press the key before the recording starts (or before the punch-in position if you have punch-in enabled) then the note won’t be recorded.
hm, just to make it clear :
i mark the first two bars as loop region, switch on loop and arm the track
i press play, let the first two bars pass by as “count in” and start playing at the beginning of bar1 ( first time of loop ) and i can’t get the first note to be recorded – i can hear it but it is not recorded …
hm, will double check this asap
very strange
thanx,
michi
nope, can’t do it for some reason, i can record in loop mode starting at bar2 but not at bar1 !!!!!!
i also can’t figure out how to do a count in with the metronome –
i suppose the “roll back option” is what we are talking about but no possible combination does the trick for me ( i want a 2bar count in ( i tried 2bars with and without 8 beats and i tried also 8 beats only, no chance !?!?!? ))
hm, not a good first impression imo
😯
Can you email me your project file, so I can see how you have set up the loop recording etc.?
For a 2 bar roll-back to work, you need to start recording at bar 3. Place your edit cursor at bar 3, start recording, and you’ll notice that the play cursor jumps back to bar 1. Also remember that you need to activate the metronome in the transport toolbar to enable the roll-back.
oh, i see, if i want to start at bar1 i cannot do a count in!!! now i got it – maybe this is also the reason for not getting first beat recorded?
will give it a try with start at bar3 and have thorough look on it, will get back and report
thanx for your quick help – it is not too common to have the dev helping out after midnight!!!!!!!!!! big point for podium!
michi
OK, i got it !! this only happens when i want to record starting with bar1 – when i start recording with bar3 my count in over 2 bars works and also my recording even in loop mode works perfectly well – no dropped first note!!
seems to be an issue with starting to count in before bar1…
Thanx for your support Frits – as i said before – very big point for podium!!
regards,
michi
edited for typo
Sorry to bother you again Frits, BUT
had been playing with 2.08 all day long –> my recording issue seems to come and go and i have no clue why – seems to be a bad team podium and me – there is no use for a daw when i’m not able to record properly everytime …
sorry
Sorry to hear that.
One more suggestion: Make sure the “use time stamps from driver” option is disabled in the interfaces dialog.
ok, will give it at try, but it’s like a last resort …
btw
xp sp2 + terratec phase22

Hi Frits, I have always had a similar issue but just put it down to either Windoze or my focusrite/Roland (PC-200 MkII …almost ‘Retro’ now) setup.
Typically what happens is Podium will kind-of lose contact with the keyboard after a period of time (maybe 5 mins). To re-establish midi recording through the keyboard I would just click on Setupmidi/audio interfaces and ok and midi would record again.
I don’t use the keyboard all that much so given that there was a 70% chance the problem was outside Podium I never bothered raising it
I have just re-confirmed the above and am now testing with the TimeStamps from driver setting disabled.
