I’m not sure if this possible as I am having some problems trying to get this to work.
I am using Jamstix setup for 8 outputs. There is 1 input setup which I use as a master track for the midi programming component.
I would like to bounce each of these individual outputs (which I can do no problem) and when bounce is enabled I would like the plugin disabled. I have the option setup in the track properties panel, but I can’t seem to get Jamstix to unload with multi[ple outputs. If I were to bounce at a group level which contains Jamstix, it unloads properly.
I have a feeling that this has something to do with how multi-out vsti’s are handled or I might have just missed something altogether in trying to set this up.
Any guidance greatly appreciaced. By the way hitting the x button the jamstix track does not unload the plugin.

Podium will not unload a plugin unless all tracks with mappings belonging to the plugin instance is muted by a parent bounce track. So a parent bounce track capturing all plugin outputs is the easiest way to control unloading of a plugin.

That is on purpose. I consider solo, mute and bypassing as temporary actions during a mix session. In these situations a plugin unload would be undesirable.

This is what I was expecting to hear but not what I wanted to hear.

I think there are situations in which this might be desirable. What I am trying to do with Jamstix is such an example.
I have been using Jamstix under a parent bounce track that rolls up all outputs to a single bounce track. The issue I have with this is that as I work on the drum track I am using different compressions, eq settings and even the odd subtle reverb (but not so much) for each group of instruments. With Jamstix also running this starts to chomp on the old cpu rather hard. I have been able to alleviate some of the problems by increasing latency but its still pretty tight.
By bouncing each of the outputs and then unloading the plugin, I could gain back those precious cpu cycles and work on the mix with significantly less strain. One of the good things with Podium is that I could drag these bounced files to another location in the hierarchy to do further sound adjusting, but that makes up for at least 8 additional steps. If I had the ability unload the plugin, 1 more click and I’m done.
How about using

I assume that when JamStix is idle, it does not take up much CPU? If so, would muting the MIDI track not be enough? (provided that all individual plugin output tracks are bounced).
To unload a plugin by pressing Ctrl + the X bypass button on a track, it is required that all tracks with mappings of the instance are bypassed. The plugin cannot be unloaded as long as there are active tracks with mappings to the plugin instance. I think this can get rather complicated. I chose the bounce track feature as a means to unload plugins, because this resembles what other hosts calls ‘deep freeze’.
Here are some numbers:
Arrangement running JAmstix live: around 80%
If abounce the group that Jamstix sits and have unload plugin set: around 54%
If I bounce the individual outputs: 62%
If Ithen mute the JAmstix in track: 62%
If I disable the bounce on track 1: 80%
Releasing subsequent track bounces doesn’t change the cpu that much so it seems to be working quite alright.
When I do a bounce at the group level it includes the vst effects that are on each channel..
The more time I spend with this program, and the more I challenge what I see the more confident I feel with the product your providing. This is really killer…
