LionParticipantCould we get a VSTi to rest on a parent group track and the child midi tracks control that same instrument.
Should be able to have the loop recording then too, but not so concerned about that.
Now that I’m thinking about it, I might have a good workaround for now.
I’ll have to test it out and see if my theory works.November 13, 2010 at 18:15 #19814
LiquidProj3ctParticipantIf I’m understanding it right you could achieve the same creating a global instance of that plugin and using it as a multiinput and monotimbral plugin. So you can have 16 midi tracks playing the same synth.

LionParticipantI think know what you’re talking about
and if I have it right, its a bit inconvenient to make a separate track for each multitimbral instance
What I’m talking about is to have one instance on a group parent and the child tracks can still control that instrument with midi. If I’m wrong and this is already possible PLEASE tell me how. lol
in the mean time I’ll look into what you said, and that theory thats still in my mind.
EDIT: Just looked at what you were talking about. Making it a global instance does work for what I’m talking about. But, this does make an inconvenience still, being that now I have to make separate defined instances if I want more than one.

LiquidProj3ctParticipantI wasn’t talking about multimbral but multiinput 🙂

That’s a minor issue since you can still use simple device definitions, and in case you need more complex device definition just right click in the complex definition folder and select “New instance”, Podium will assign the global+1 instance.
I also have a template with multiple complex instances of my instruments/effects that I can import inside the current project 😉

ZynewaveKeymasterIf you want to play on multiple MIDI channels on a VSTi, you need to set it up as a global multitimbral instance. If you just want to get the MIDI sequences onto a child track, but still only play on a single MIDI channel, you can convert the VSTi track to a group track, add a child track, and move the MIDI sequence to the child track.
