Hi :).
Try and get hold of a copy of native instruments battery VSTi if you can Fritz.
This instruments supports configuration of the number of output stereo channels it uses. To change the number output channels, you have to bring up the VSTi, then click on its options button, to bring up its channel configuration. You can then change number of output channels….which then requires the plug-in to be loaded to take affect.
Unfortunately (from within Podium), clicking on this options button, causes Poduim to crash.
Another symptom of design faults in the VSi spec I feel. I’ve always thought hosts should define input/output channels for VSTi’s. All this nastiness, is cause the plug-ins themselves, decide. Always seemed strange to me.
What version of Battery are you using?
From the NI website I found this in the 1.0.1 patch info:
Under certain conditions BATTERY crashed FruityLoops. Fixed.
Could be the same that causes Podium to crash.
If you change the output configurations in Battery using another VST host, will Battery then import properly in Podium afterwards?
Im using the latest update 1.0.1.4.
Perhaps you should download the demo…

You should (I hope) get the same problem 🙂
The last demo of Battery that I tried, did not allow setting the output configurations.
I assumed you meant the crash occurs if you try to change the output configuration, or does it crash even before the options dialog appears?
Ive had it crash at two different times.
The first was when clicking on the ‘options’ button inside battery. It crashed before the options dialog was displayed.
I managed to bring up the options dialog inside Podium once….then changed it. But the i pressed play, and Podium reported an error in a dialog box….except this time it looked like a Podium defined error.
Battery now seems to be in the second state.
I can go into the options dialog and change the number of outputs. What is strange however, is that the plug-in is not telling me, I have to reload it this time.
In Cubase SL it does.
I managed to bring up the options dialog inside Podium once….then changed it. But the i pressed play, and Podium reported an error in a dialog box….except this time it looked like a Podium defined error.
What sort of error? Was it the dialog saying that the plugin had performed an illegal action, and that you should save the project and restart Podium?
yes, thats exactly correct.
I have the same problem. I went to assign more Stereo Outputs in the Options inside Battery, hit Apply and boom crash….Podium disabled Battery.
😥

Ok, I just experienced a Battery crash. I did it by entering the options dialog while the arrangement was playing. Debugging info told me that Battery made an illegal action in the sample processing function. Could you try to disable monitoring of the arrangement before opening the options dialog, and let me know if this allows you to work with Battery without crashes.
Frits,
Yes, that “fixed” it. No crash here. I turned off the monitor and was able to go into options and change outputs without a hitch.
A minor inconvenience… how many times do I need to change the outputs? I’d set it and forget it, most likely, but that’s just me. Be nice if it didn’t crash of course..
🙄
Hope that helps,
Kenfen
