I’m getting an error that says

There’s no enough memory to load the selected sound font

(I copied the spelling mistake to be accurate)

When I originally created my arrangement, there was no problem loading the sound font. I worked on some music for a few hours, saved my work a few times, everything seemed fine.

The next day I went to open up my project and I get that error.

I’m using Podium 2.37 (free version). I have close to 2.5G of available RAM according to Task Manager.

I’m, using sfz+ and I’m trying to load FluidR3 GM.sf2 (I also tried a different sound font that is used by my sound card – same problem)

I am using sfz+ in single file mode (though it makes no difference if I deselected single file mode)

The error I mentioned shows up in popup box 32 times.

    Any thoughts?

This is going to sound silly, but have you tried sfz (not the plus version)? I seem to recall having some kind of issue with the plus version that was released for free, most unfortunately, and have reverted to using the original free version of sfz.

I could be way off of course, but anyway, just in case!

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it but still have the same problem. I can’t figure this out. I have another project that is quite happily using sfz+ and the Fluid sound font.

Yet, when I start a new project, and do nothing more than try to load a sound font in to Sfz+ or Sfz, I get the memory error.

There’s no enough memory to load the selected sound font

That message is not generated by Podium. It must be sfz+ that displays it. Perhaps you could try to clear and then reselect the soundfont, after sfz+ has displayed the error message.

I’ve tried all sorts of things including deleting sfz+ entirely and unzipping it again.

Further research suggested that oddly enough, adding more RAM could be related to the problem. Ironically, a few other people had this problem arise after upgrading from 2G to 3G RAM. I also recently went from 2G to 3G RAM. So one suggestion was to remove the extra RAM.

Before I tried removing any RAM, I also read a suggestion to load the Sound Font in PR32 mode instead of SF32 or SF16 mode. I’m not sure what these modes are BUT, it seems to have made a difference. The memory error went away and I can still use my 3G of RAM.

Ah yes, that rings true from some of the things I read too.

SF32 loads the entire soundfont into memory, at 32-bit resolution. Likewise, SF16 does the same but at 16-bit. PR32 loads only the selected program (so, Piano, for instance) into memory, but not the entire soundfont, at 32-bit resolution. And PR16 you can guess!

I’m not sure why that 3gb upgrade would cause that. Are you using 32-bit Windows?

I might also go and try sfz+ again, just in case I no longer get the issue, or can resolve it. I have 4gb of memory currently.
