Hello Fritz,
I been on the sidelines for the last two years watching the growth of podium. Though I am excited that the software is still in development, there are some things that I believe that are missing that if implemented SOON would make your software the next logic killer sooner than later.
I know there has been previous discussion about how the way things are laid out in podium. Some say it’s too complicated for the average user. Is this truly the case? I don’t think so.
The layout is fine. The problem is that you don’t make use of the mouse.
The way I see it, if a software application is going to streamline the way that audio, midi and soft synth routings are going to be handled then that application better ensure that all the editing functions are INSTANTLY AVAILABLE to the end user. As slick as your layout is within Podium, it doesn’t make any sense to me that a huge battery of commands are not there to see when I right click on an object weather it be a midi or an audio track, Bus or a group. As a user, I gotta be able to call up somehow a list of editing functions that will allow me to do what I gotta do.
I think that to have podium with a Brilliant interface and revolutionary layout without any real use of right click commands is shooting yourself in the foot. People need this type of functionality to make full use of their environment. There is a reason why like apps like Microsoft Office and Mozilla Firefox are very popular with people. It’s not because for example, firefox offers multi tabbed browsing. It’s because now, when I am in firefox, I can right click to to start another session within firefox. You know what I saying? I could care less about the tabbed browsing. It’s all about the ease of execution. That’s what is imporant to me overall.
Please implement all editing functions within podium through the use of the right mouse button and middle scroll wheel. I promise you, you won’t regret it if you do. Massive editing functionality with your already fantastic Mixing Engine & Layout (please don’t change a thing in this regard) will seal the deal for alotta people looking to completly stay away from Apple and Logic Pro.
Thanks fritz for hearing me out. 😀
