My laptop display unfortunately has rare native resolution 1900X1200 pixels in 17″ size. That means it is no possible in any way to see or able to read out theese extremally small letters in this open prog. Changing the resolution in Windows doesn`t affect the font size in the Podium app therefore Zynewave Podium even last version created as 2.37 left it useless for me in this case. Has got someone proper clue outthere to solve this issue? I have had aim to by this otherwise interesting prog but this serious obstruction almost changed my mind. I have had a deep look on REAPER also what undoubtely is a colorfull and strong and very very powerfull and very assertive prog. Still having just the same old stile fashioned look for me what slowed down my intention to by it for substitution of Podium. I would much more like to prefer the interface of Podium, but this interface doesn`t work for some display resolution and the changes of Windows font size doesn`t affect font size in Podium. That`s very silly… What I can say…
I’m afraid there’s currently nothing that can be done… My old laptop has the same problem, and DPI or font size settings don’t affect Podium. Frits said he’d take a look at custom fonts someday – it’d go well together with the button size setting. 😉
I wish to disagree. I also have a laptop with 1920×1200 native resolution (which I sincerely regret, can’t believe I paid extra for such a headache).
If you decrease the resolution to, say, 1680×1050, or 1440×900, the pixels get bigger. That means the fonts get bigger. I have mentioned recently in another thread, however, that Podium does not recognise Window’s DPI setting, or any other size setting, and that it might be nice if it did (my eyesight is crap, and I also sometimes use a 40″ screen, so I always use 120 DPI in Windows now).
But if you decrease the numbers for resolution, fonts will get bigger. If you set your laptop to 1024×768, or even 800×600, I would never believe that the text remained the same size even on that resolution.
I can provide photos, if you like. 🙂
Yeah, it would be partially true, just I don`t want to make these DPI changes each time before I`d like start Podium and therefore have to restart computer because of this Podium issue. Such painfull effort to apply each time shouldn`t be necessary to do. Such technical issues may have lead to far away from afflatus to start make good song. (O, dear, my english, sorry… )
The next Podium 2.38 release will have new font options. “Font name” and “scale font size to button size (%)” settings are added to the appearances page in the preferences dialog.
I appreciate your attention to yours existing and potential customers. I listened and followed some advice and have changed my laptop display resolution from 1900X1200 to1680X1050 and for the now I`m not having any bad disorder to look on Podium in wrong proportions. I really like that interface this has have and I`ve got the feeling that Zynewawe allready theese years ago put his foot on to the right direction. However, it still is not clear for me why Podium takes few or even more minutes to be closed after exit command. Sometimes it crashed, when I execute the project saving command. I have been reinstalled Vista completely a couple of weeks ago because the harddisk been substituted to the fastest one as 7200rpm/min.. instead of 5400 having been inner there before. So, it means I`ve installed Podium on pure fresh OS. Merely just this odd behaviour breaking a little from a buy this so clever prog otherwise. Nevertheless I`m not to far from making decision to make a turn for the better for the Podium. I like it. Albeit I`m newbie with Podium and actually just learning it.
Does it take that long to close Podium, even if you’ve just created a small empty project? Have you scanned heaps of VST plugins, and are closing after that?
I can certainly assure you that Podium should not be taking that long to close. It shouldn’t even be taking one minute. For me, it would usually take a few seconds if it was heavily loaded.
The long delay when exiting Podium has been reported quite a few times. It is most likely caused by your antivirus software. If your antivirus software setup allows it, you could try to add the Podium.exe process to the antivirus trusted programs. In Microsoft Security Essentials, this is under the “excluded processes” tab.
