Hi! I`m interested in buying Podium, but before buying I want to know how good it would incorporate in my setup. My main tool is Plogue Bidule and right now I`m using it with Reaper, I quite like Reaper, but it doesn`t really clicks with me and also the commercial licence is too expensive for me. And I`ve used Podium CM edition before, I really liked it back then and even finished a project with it. So now that Podiums licence is even cheaper than before and I have some money on card nothing is stopping me from buying it except I`m not sure how it handles multichannel fx. I took a quick look through forum and seems like Podium is working fine with multichannel instruments, but multichannel fx is a bit different (I think?). I uploaded a picture to show what I mean:

What I want to do is to route different Podium audio tracks through Bidule 16 channel VSTfx version and then back to Podium, so I can record it. Also I want to be able send midi to Bidule through different midi channels, recommendably from the same track that I`m routing audio from. Is it possible with current Podium version? If it is, maybe there is some link to tutorial how to do it, so I can test it with Podium`s demo version.
Sorry if the post is a bit messy!

    Hi,

Before I can give a detailed answer I need to know: Are you using Bidule as a single multichannel fx (meaning surround sound), or as multiple mono/stereo pairings of the I/O channels?

    That`s the case 🙂

Alright. You’ll need to do some manual setup of a set of Bidule mappings:

On the project start page, devices panel, right-click the Bidule mapping and select “new copy”. In the properties dialog that appear:

Name the mapping e.g. “Bidule 1-2”, select the “link to global instance” option, select “stereo” in the plugin input and output combo boxes. Click ok.

Now right-click the new mapping you just created, select “new copy” and:

Name the mapping “Bidule 3-4”, increase the two “first channel” settings to 3. Click ok.

Repeat for as many stereo pairs you need.

Once you have set up the mappings, you can assign them on separate tracks to treat them as individual stereo effects.

That was easy! Thanks a lot. One more thing- can I have audio and midi on the same track? In “Device Mapping Properties” I checked “Device is an instrument” and now I need a way to send a midi notes to it.

edit: I managed to do it by inserting a child track, now back to reading the guide. Thank you very much, I think you have a new customer, gonna play around some more… 🙂

edit2: Sorry to say that but Podium crashes constantly, probably it has something to do with my computer configuration and/or Bidule vst plugin…there is no recognazible pattern, sometimes it crashes on muting/unmuting tracks, sometimes it doesn`t respond to stopping the song, it just goes out of looped segment and keeps playing and freezes after few seconds…so back to Reaper for me I guess.
