Hi everyone
I’m pleased to announce that an “alpha” version of the QuickStart guide is ready to view at
http://members.iinet.net.au/~chrisfar/QuickStart/
This QuickStart has been designed to allow new users to come to terms with how Podium works by reading through structured and guided documentation. I’d appreciate any feedback on it (including possible errors, or where you thought the text was misleading). Once the QuickStart has been thoroughly read through and completed it should be ready to host on the zynewave site Fritz…
Please post feedback/comments as a reply to this post! Thanks
Note: There are a two or three pages I need to complete, but I’ve left a note on those HTML pages.
Page 3/4 in the setup
“any devices that you use in Podium, whether they be soundcards, external gear, or VST plugins are handled with Mappings which makes it very easy set up Podium to work for you.”
it should read “very easy to set up Podium […]”, right?
more posts might follow π
edit: didn’t find any more spelling/grammar mistakes.
btw, for a lot of people (the ones used to using audio applications etc) a even quicker quickguide might come in handy. Something like:
Start Podium
Go thru the entire Project Wizard
Create a “preset arrangement” that you can copy when starting working on a new song.
Copy the preset arrangement and start making music.
Kinda π
I see the latest Podium 1.24 release has made some parts of your tutorial out of date π³
Specifically it is the description of the ‘audio mixer mappings’ and the ‘audio input mappings’ panels in the wizard, that are now joined into one ‘audio mappings’ panel. The 1.24 release also creates audio output mappings for all enabled audio interface channels, instead of a single ‘master out’ mapping.
Other than that, it’s looking good π

This pretty much sums up the functionality of the new ‘quick setup’ button in the latest 1.24 release. Have you tried this yet?

No I had not because somehow I did not see the “new posts” icons! Will check it out π Latest version I noticed was 1.20, heh.
edit: w00t! lots of new good stuff! you should post something in the hosts-section on kvr to let everybody know. The major complaint has been the setting up phase… π

π― You’ve been working with that ancient 1.20 all this time? π

Yeah, the recent changes to the project wizard is a response to the feedback on kvr. Podium 1.25 will be released this week, and a new press release is going up along with a new demo.

Actually I had seen a few of the updates, but not until 1.23 the really interesting (for me) stuff started to appear π

Goodie!
Hi Fritz
What day are you releasing the 1.25 demo?
We should try to get the QuickStart guide up on the Zynewave site by then, what do you think?

Probably friday.

Just let me know when you want me to upload the files to zynewave.com. The tutorial don’t necessarily have to be complete I think. I intend to create a sticky topic in the support forum, with links to your tutorial and any other resources that users may contribute in the future.
Btw. would it not be best if you removed the ‘Copyright @ 2004 Zynewave. All rights reserved.’ text from the bottom of the tutorial pages? You can put your own name or nickname instead.
i’ll just correct the “audio mappings” section based on what you’ve said, and get the files to you to upload (will email to info@zynewave.com within 12 hours)
as you said, the other pages can be completed at a later date, as this QuickStart currently is enough for anyone to get started I think
