I first, just want to say, thanks for producing this software! I just purchased it yesterday and I really like it for now.
OK, first things first: When I close Podium, it just sits there trying to close, if I try to close it agian (click X) it will “hang” and windows starts to get aggravated. Anyway, I have tried all different types of scenarios to try and “fix” or figure out what is causing to no avail.
Well, if I close Podium and don’t touch anything, it will eventually close. THAT will get annoying after a while unfortunately.
Then I read another post about how Podium was staying loaded in the processes section of windows.
Well, after it closes, mine is too. 😯
Any solutions? ❓
Hi, welcome to the forum.

In that topic there are some tips to things you can try. The most common cause for long closing times is anti-virus programs.

Thanks Frits,
I am using NOD32 and disabling my realtime scanning solves the problem. I made an exception for Podium.exe in nod32 but it doesn’t solve the problem. I was wondering if you knew where the main .dll’s were installed, or what have you? That way I could exclude them as well.
Thank you,
Sincerely,
Michael
Under advanced mode, I went to Real-time file system protection then with those checkboxes… I unchecked File Open and File Creation and with those two disabled (I tried them all one by one) it solves the problem.
This obviously means that podium, opens files and creates them upon startup of the actual executable, I would assume.
Which files are they and where is this happening and most importantly, WHY!?
Could it be the podium.ini file, typically located in the user folder, under Application Data/Zynewave? If you copy that to the folder you installed Podium to, as I understand it, Podium won’t look for it outside of the Podium folder, however it will still load it from that file, which will be “external” to the .exe.
As for any other possibilities, I’m not aware of them, but anyway, that’s my suggestion, and I’m glad too, because I hate programs that save options in the
Druid, YOU NAILED IT. I went, folder by folder just to be sure.
Well, for anyone who needs this issue resolved and your anti-virus can make exceptions, this is the folder that needs it.

I am using Windows 7 RC1 so I had to go to control panel to get to folder options to do this (same for vista). If your using Windows XP, your window options will be, well, at the top of your folder window. I don’t remember the exact words and tab needed to get to folder options but I know for sure it is there and while your there you can enable “show hidden files”.
Phew, had to think a bit to write all of that to make sure I didn’t leave anything important out. If this has already been resolved in the thread Frits left me, I apologize.
Anyway, opens and closes perfectly, no hanging services, as long as the exception has been made. You don’t even need to make an exception for the Podium.exe file, that isn’t the problem.
Hope everyone has a good day,
Mike 😆
Well, though, as I said, if you move/copy podium.ini to the installed Podium folder, it should read it from there instead, meaning you’d only need to except the one folder for Podium (as long as that’s the only file it loads).
For Windows XP, it’s in any folder view in explorer/my computer, under “tools->folder options->view tab->show hidden files and folders”.
And the solution I gave, as in, the folder (typically c:My Documents & Settings
Glad you got your problem sorted but as I said, I’d recommend shifting the ini file to your Podium folder, meaning you only need to make one folder exception. There are still all the other .ini files, but they are just colour setups so you won’t need to automatically load them on startup. I also moved my templates and whatever else folders, usually in the Documents folder, to the Podium folder and relocated them in the Podium setup, so that it’s all contained in the Podium folder. If only files being loaded on startup matter, this won’t affect you, but I prefer it so I recommend it anyway. 🙂
Thanks again,
Mike 😈

AppDataRoamingZynewave – This folder will usually be hidden by Windows and you will need to turn on hidden files. Just to be SAFE, I am not 100% sure this is the same for all versions of Windows!! I repeat! So please be valiant when hunting down this folder!
A quick shortcut for getting to the Zynewave appdata folder is to write the following in the explorer address bar:
%appdata%Zynewave
That should work on all recent Windows versions, and should also work even when the “do not show hidden files and folders” Windows option is selected.
