super_crunchyParticipantHi Frits
Just out of interest, how many official Podium users are there now?
8)

ZynewaveKeymasterClose to 60. A small, but hopefully happy group of users.

super_crunchyParticipantπ i find that really surprising actually…
how far away are you from sending Podium to music mags for review (I know you planned on updating the Guide first)? I reckon once magazine publicity starts to work things will really start to happen
PS very happy user here!

super_crunchyParticipantAlso, have you thought about having a competition to encourage people to play with Podium long enough to get over the initial learning curve (which seems to turn alot of people off)
eg. produce a tune with a time-limited demo from a set list of free plugins. Winner could be judged by you and win a free Podium licence! Winner would have to email you their project so they could prove they made the track in Podium.
Could heavily promote this on KVR and other forums. Just an idea, let me know what you think. I think it would be a very good way to get people hooked – they’d have to learn the basics of Podium to be able to make a track in it, and once they do I feel alot of users would want to buy the full version 8)
Competition could run for 3 months to give people enough time.
Again, all just idea, feel free to shut them down if you think they’re crap π

ZynewaveKeymasterThere are many ways I could promote Podium. I just don’t feel I have the time (and interest) to invest in the marketing side of the business. I have made the choice to focus on development, and see how far that will bring it. I may be missing out on a lot of sales, but hopefully the time I invest in development will pay back later on.
Almost a year ago I went back to a part-time employment at TC, so I’m not economic dependent on Podium sales. In spite of having 30-40 hours less per week for Podium development, I’ve still managed to implement quite a lot during the last year. So no need to worry about the Podium future.

Good to hear 8) I’ll stop bugging you with marketing ideas then π
Cheers

Please keep the ideas coming π
I believe the best kind of promotion is ‘gossip’ on the various online communities. I know at least some users got interested in Podium because of recommendations and praise from other users on the forums. My website statistics also show that a major part of the visitors come from links posted in topics discussing Podium.

duncanparsonsParticipantI think the comp idea is good. But it’s timing isn’t it..
I didn’t realise that you had been doing parttime stuff as well Frits. I was kind of glad, since 60 licenses will only buy so much food!
I’m very impressed with the way you have taken your time and ensured stability throughout. Much better than have a fanfare of publicity and a product that falls over every 5 minutes π

I heartily agree – I often wondered whether or not you (Frits) were making a living on Podium alone.
I’m certain that top quality product will always come through in end though.Mart.
