Hi! Podium’s MIDI and audio latency compensation has always worked flawlessly and it’s truly sublime. But today I noticed something: Latency-heavy plugins on the master track would upset the synchronisation between audio tracks and MIDI tracks.

If I moved that latency-heavy plugin to parent just the audio tracks (and not MIDI tracks), then when I restart playback everything is compensated correctly. So, the plugin only caused latency issues when it sat on the master track, or more accurately, when it sat ‘above’ MIDI tracks in the track hierarchy.

If you don’t have any CPU-taxing effects plugins to test this, then the same issue happens with multiple instances of lightweight plugins. Anything to kick the latency info up above 30/40ms and it should be noticeable. Unless it’s just me doing something silly.

(Specs: Podium 3.2.7 32-bit edition, Windows 8.1 64-bit, RME Babyface Pro interface, RME ASIO driver)

Hmm, I’ll need to spend some time investigating this. The code for the latency compensation is quite complex, so if you don’t mind I’d like to finish 3.3 first and then look into the problem for a subsequent minor release.

    Thanks for reporting the problem.
