Update on the issue #1 I reported in my previous post. I encountered that device list issue repeatedly over the weekend. But since then, it has worked perfectly every time – on existing projects and new projects.
Hi Nicholas. Thanks for the test report.
1. After I run “Build and Load Plugin Database” or “Update and Load Plugin Database”, the Project page’s Device list is empty, and the Device drop-down is empty; it just says “Device”. I have to change pages in order to see the refreshed list and drop-down options.
Is it possible that you experienced this bug with the beta version? I remember finding this bug in one of the betas and fixing it for the release, but I may have overlooked something.
3. In the Arrangement editor, the ‘default’ help topic relates to the Project page. There are more relevant sections of the guide which could be presented, like 1.3 Arrangement editor. (There’s a chance this is due to my custom editor profiles.)
The Podium Guide is still a work in progress. It is a huge task to get it all linked into the UI, so I have settled with gradually improving it for the coming releases.
6. I’m having projects listed twice in the Start page. Once under Recent projects with more of a path (e.g. “Spectrum\Spectrum.pod”), then again in the next (untitled) column with the same screenshot, same save date and time, but simpler name (e.g. “Spectrum”). I don’t mind the repetition, I just don’t understand why.
The groups following the ‘Recent Projects’ group is kind of a file explorer/browser for the project files you have in your configured ‘Projects root folder’. I think it would be weird if a project tile should disappear as you click it because opening the file then causes it to get added to the recent projects group. Note that the recent projects group can also show project files you have opened from outside the projects root folder. For those projects the full file path is shown.
7. Related to this untitled column, I see a blank menu entry in the Start page’s View menu (between Recent Projects and Templates in the menu). I can select it to bring the second column into view, but it’s a bit mysterious.
I don’t see that on my system. Do you have your project and track template folders as subfolders of your projects root folder?
I’ll get the bugs you reported fixed and hopefully have the 3.3.1 release ready before October. Also coming in 3.3.1 is a fix for a bug I found in the saving of track templates in the 3.3.0 release, and while working on the fix I have made some improvements to the track template support.
Thanks for this!
Is it possible that you experienced this bug with the beta version?
I didn’t have access to the beta, so it was definitely the release. I just tried updating the plugin database a whole bunch of times… It only showed this empty list issue *once*, when updating a nearly-empty project for the first time in a while. But even when I tried temporarily moving/adding plugins and rebuilding, I could not get it to fail again.
Do you have your project and track template folders as subfolders of your projects root folder?
Haha yeah I did… Okay I’ve moved those out of the way and the list is clearer. But I still see the empty menu item. Screenshot (Not a serious issue, in fact it’s growing on me.)
One more thing: Track Templates saved in 3.3.0 lack their assigned devices (sources, inputs) when recalled. The track name/colour/gain/pan settings are reloaded, but not much else.
Hey Frits, I sent you an e-mail with bug reports a few weeks ago; make sure it didn’t go in your spam folder (it has attachments). 😉
Oh, and I wanted to ask about the location of podium.ini, plugin database, color setups, and note maps. For my “upgraded installation”, I guess, it still uses the old location (Users\[…]\AppData\Roaming\Zynewave\Podium). However, all color setups except my custom ones have been deleted, and the new Podium folder in documents doesn’t have the standard setup files either. I should probably just do a fresh installation and move everything over to the new location?
3.3.1 is released. It has fixes for all bugs discussed in this topic.

The trick to provoke this bug is to first open and close the arrangement editor, after which the device list will show the empty list when updating the plugin database.
I’ve extended the free update period an additional month since I didn’t manage to get this release done before October 1st.

Two ways:
1/ You can download the files from: https://github.com/zynewave/podium-library/tree/master/Color%20Themes
2/ Rename the “Zynewave Podium” folder in your Documents folder to something that doesn’t have the word “Podium” in it, and then start Podium. It will ask to create the default folder structure, including the color setup files. After that, you can exit Podium, and merge your old documents folder with the new folder. Also check out the new section 7.1 in the guide that describes the new folder layout: https://github.com/zynewave/podium-library/blob/master/Guides/podium-guide.md#toc.filesandfolders
A user was quick to report a bug in the 3.3.1 release, so I removed that version and have now uploaded a 3.3.2 release with a bugfix.
