Hi –
I currently own Reason/Record and Imagelines Fl Studio Signature. That said..
There are issues or limitations with the later that I’m not finding in Podium.
The more and more i look at Podium Free – I’m eager to try out the full version.
Plus i really like the feel of Podium – the lay out is more like a real mixer board
– the added features like track cpu usage is a major plus!
– the surround sound vu meters actually including surround sound not limited to stereo is a plus.
The list goes on with what i like and the more I open it the more i like it.
Granted there are some things i wish for and haven’t gotten use to navigating around – but i do like it.
Small yet seamingly powerful little program.
That works really well with my VSTs.
Tech support via the Forums is really surprizingly good – quick, at least it seems so thus far.
However… i inquired as to the upgrade costs after seeing a post on the topic in the forums and some questions regarding purchase via email about a week ago..
nobody replied – this has me a little conserned.
I’ve purchased software along the lines of this scale before and when it came to email inquries – and upgrading – i never heard back from them after the initial purchase.
The company is still in business – their software still as good as ever but – the biggest complaint is – nobody can get aresponse from the guy on upgrades and delivery issues.
I don’t want a repeat of that and am not interested in purchasing if i can’t quickly with in reasonable amount of time hear back via email about purchacing or upgrading inquiries.
So… my quesition is – is this what I should expect from Zynewave once i purchase or try to puchase…
so far it is looking like it is – so I’m conserned.
Here is your chance to ease my conserns and perhaps others that may be interested in purchasing Podium or upgrading Podium.
Take care
– I’ll send you a pm regarding what i mentioned earlier – it may help.
talk soon
– and I’ll purchase the full version soon to help keep you developing.

Normally, Fritz (Zynewave) is very active and ambitious here on the forum…

I’ve been busy with stuff not related to Podium the last few weeks, so the shop is still offline. I hope to have everything sorted soon. I’ll reply to this topic when the shop is open again.
If you want to be sure, just wait a little till he´s back, but I know him as a very honest and correct person.

I happily 3rd the character assessment. When I first joined I asked a lot of newbie questions. Sometimes they were easily answered with a browse through the manual but Fritz (or other member) would respond post haste.
That said, he has been less active on the forum of late. Perhaps we should start a thread with possible reasons why.
Stick with the free version, chase, and get a licence when the product meets your requirements 🙂

Hi chase,
Sorry for the late reply. I hope you got my reply to your email yesterday. I’ve been busy with other matters the last couple of months, so my presence on the forum has been less frequent than usual. I hope things return to normal soon.

Frits
Hi Fritz and yes i recieved your email – and thanx
And thanx to those that replied with the character assessment on behalf of Fritz.
As mentioned in my email reply to you Fritz i have some questions regarding the capabilities of the Full version of Podium and will post them via the forum or do a search on the topics.
I take it you are are the Programmer – Developer of Podium?
Nice to hear from you.
May I ask – and I hope I’m not being out of line in asking but, just to further get a feel for where you are at and the direction of Podiums future.
What would you like to see happen with Podium?
Were do you see Podium in say 5yrs?
Do you think you’l be taking it to a higher or the next level?
– staffing more people to handle the business side of things.
or help with programing etc etc
Do you see Podium growing as a company business and software is what I’m asking i guess.
or will Podium slowly stagnate or turn into more of a programmers hobby kinda thing?
And again – I hope I’m not prying or putting you under the gun by asking.
thanx
chase
Hmmm…?
is it something I said or asked the reason for no reply?
I meant no offense – just simply inquiring.
Why is there an echo in here – here – here
Hello Hello Hello
Is there anybody out there? there? there?

Yes. I am the only person behind Zynewave.

Podium has always been a hobby of mine. The last 5 years I’ve been fortunate to be able to work full-time on Podium. I’m not making enough money from Podium sales to continue with it full-time though. In the future I will need to find a more dependable source of income, which inevitably means I will get less hours per week for Podium development. That means returning to the way I developed Podium for the first 15 years of its existance. So I see myself continuing with Podium development in-definitely.
I gather from the different questions you’ve been asking, in other topics as well, that you are requiring a lot of specific features within surround-sound processing, etc. You should perhaps be looking at products such as Nuendo, or some of the other big players that has a wider range of features than Podium currently offers.

Ahhh – I see. Thought this might be a sole operator type thing. Nothing wrong with that at all. But helps me and perhaps others understand some things related to Podium as well.
The other software i mentioned at the beginning of this post is also run by a sole operater / developer.
I can certainly appriciate your postition. Having run a few bussiness in my past – completly understand where you are coming from as well as the problems and issues that arise being a sole owner operator.
I have a solution in part for you but – don’t want to share it here in the forums.
As far as the surround sound goes – I’m experimenting at this point with various panning techniques – and of course surround sound of varing types.
Your software offers up some great combos and options thus far as far as connections – speaker layouts etc etc.
I’ll look into Nuendo while I’m at it – but hope you don’;t mind if I continue looking at Podium… ;0)
There is too much i like about it to ignore it as viable solution.
Small pakages with a big bang – gotta love em.
The other developer i mentioned
– his apps are like wise small and powerfull.
Even some of the big boys mimiced some of his softwares features.
His problem was as well – he was the only one working on it and develped so many apps that he was overwelmed on the bussiness side of things.
We all understood and stood by him – but then it got to a point were he was making even that difficult for all of his loyal contributors from the onset of his software(s)
Not fun to buy into something when it goes that way – I’m sure you understand.
Personally I like the smaller independant companies
– and the big guys as well but…
Many times the independants create apps that can actually be better in many ways.
Better quality More focused
More obviouse features and perhaps even not as many “extra outside the focus features”, but what they do feature has more features
– more control given to the user. If you follow that ramble and my meaning.
Certainly they can be less bloated than some of the big dogs in the market.
Only draw back can be with independants at times
– as you mentioned – is being the only one workling on the application.
And the developer getting sooverwhelmed they can’t handle everything on their own
– or needs additional income, as in your case, in order to give the app your undivided attention.
thanks for replying and answering my questions
– I hope I wasn’t being to forward.
You certainly didn’t create a junk app as i call them.
what can i say – the more i open it the more i like it.
The features it has – are pretty full featured from what I’m seeing thus far.
I see more features in some areas than my other audio apps.
I’ll do what i can to help promo your app.
If i like something, i usually try to help out when i can in ways that i can.
Hi Chase! I don’t think you were being too forward, you were only asking questions some of us may have been thinking about…but Frits is good as gold, the kind of guy I could not see bailing out any time soon. Podium is his baby, and our nephew (or something like that), no child abandonment issues here. Glad you’re on board mate-

Hey thanx 4mica – I was beginning to wonder there for a second.
Only a second but – a long second. ;0)
You seem to be a good group of people here on the forums as well,
more … hate to term … mature in nature maybe?
I don’t know the term exactly
I’m not a forum person by any means – usually due to the software flag wavers as I calll them… you know the type
– say anything about the app that goes against the grain or might be viewed as not waving a flag and cheering about it and they pounce all over the poster… you know the type I’m sure.
“Software Forum comandos”
But I don’t see that here at Zynewave Forums at least not yet – which spoke to me about the app and people using it- everybody is more relaxed about stuff in the forums it seems.
That’s really a big plus – in my book anyway and good to see.
Again thanx for the welcome and chiming in the way you did.
Gotta go as for now, be back online sometime next week, for now I’ve got some more discovering to do on the surround side and getting use to it’s layout – navigating it – etc etc but I’m having fun with it thus far.
