Hi,
I’m demoing Podium (for the third time) and have a few questions:
I see midi export on the to do list, any idea on the timeframe for this feature? The reason I ask is that I need to be able to export midi to bring my comp in a notation editor, and until this is done I’m affraid Podium cannot be my main sequencer.
I went a lot further ahead than last two times I demoed in the fact that this time I was able to load VSTI, record some midi and listen to playback which I wasn’t able to do before.
But it took some time to setup the studio, loading my VSTI’s, settings audio inputs/outputs and midi inputs/outputs/channel and whatnot, but when I reopened Podium the next day all those settings were gone?!? Why? Is it a limitation of the demo?
I can’t find how to setup audio input as stereo pair, I only can get singles. Where could I find info about this?
I’ll be looking forward to further developement of this sequencer, looks promising.
Thank you.
Hi bullshark,

There is no timeframe set for this feature yet. It depends on what you require of a midi export. To allow saving a single note sequence to a midi file would be fairly easy to implement. Saving an entire arrangement with multiple tracks and automation data etc. will take a lot longer to code.

It is not a demo limitation. Your studio setup is saved in the project file. If you exited Podium without saving the project, your setup is lost. Only your MIDI/Audio interface selections are stored in the Podium setup file, which is automatically saved when you exit Podium.

Are you using the Project Wizard for this? The ‘create audio input mappings’ command in the audio mappings panel should create both mono and stereo mappings for the audio channels you have enabled in the MIDI/Audio interfaces dialog.

So I guess the proper workflow would be to setup a default comp with all your VST’s and whatnot already done and save as with a new name for new project? Is it the best thing to do?
As to midi export I think just basic notation info would work great, I don’t think a notation editor (I use OvertureSE) would use automation data or GM complex arrangement; then again I could be wrong as I’m not a programer, I’m quite happy to leave the programing to more talented individual such as yourself.
Thank you Frits.

Yes. At least save the project when you have completed the studio setup. When you start a new project, load this ‘template’ project and save it under a new name.
