does Podium recognize dx plugs?
thanks
No.
that seems like a failry big draw back. any plans to change that. i’d be cusious why or why not.
is there anything else that comes immediately to mind that might be significant in the difference between Podium and it’s competitiors? positive or negative.
thank you
It is my perception that the DX standard is slowly fading out in the audio industry. Steinberg dumped support for DX in their latest Cubase version. It also seems that there are very few new plugins released that are DX only. So the problem is mainly with older plugins which are no longer being updated by the developer.
There are some DX to VST wrappers available, but I have no experience using those.

That’s a big question, with many possible answers depending on what you are looking for. Since you mentioned DX, I would also say that Rewire currently is not supported, but I plan to add support for it.
thank you.
my first concern is always stability for DAW. if you are familiar, Reaper and SAW have done a fine job there. your set up is very appealing to me. is Podium stable? is the full version in the 4MB area also?
Stability is one of my primary concerns. Feedback from users seem to confirm that Podium is stable, but there are of course systems where Podium will not perform well. With the plethora of plugins and soundcard drivers, it’s close to impossible to write a host that is stable under all conditions. So I recommend users try Podium on their music PC and check that it performs well, before they purchase a license.
The full version installer is not much larger than the demo version.
Podium, for me, is absolutely the most stable DAWs I’ve ever used. I’ve never had a single crash.

Me too. Podium has never crashed on me, while Live 6 has crashed many times, and Tracktion 2 clicks and pops with very little CPU load (maybe the dual processor support in Tracktion 3 while reduce that). Podium, to me, is the best deal in music software that I’ve experienced.
I think the 10 + years that Frits has spent on Podium shows IMO. Based on my own experience it really is a very stable and polished host.

I use Console. It supports for VST/VSTi and DirectX (DX) audio plug-ins.

thanks mahtazz, i actually own that program from my VS2480 days!
I don’t think Podium should support DX anyway, it’s pretty much a dead plug-in tech, and will be something else to worry baout gettign to work right.
VST and ReWire are the most important if you ask me.

+1
Just read this. Well, many people agree that DX-plugins are not longer used much. My first purchase was a horribly expensive Timeworks reverbX plugin, DX-only, and I still love it (but 249 Euro…i had no clue way back then 😳 ).
Sometimes I’d like to use it (I could in Orion and Reaper), but there is the freebie-converter from VB audio or similar (forgot the name), and the reverb was more for offline work too because of the cpu-hunger.
So all in all agreed, no new DX-only-plugins came out since years it seems.
