bfloyd6969ParticipantDoes anyone else experience very slow closing times when exiting Podium? Everything opens up very fast, scanning of my vst(i)’s is relatively quick but whenever I go to close out of Podium it takes almost a minute to do so. It just sits there frozen until it closes. Does this have to do with being in the demo mode? Thanks.

ZynewaveKeymasterClosing should not take this long.
Were you saving the project when the delay occured?
Please try these things before closing Podium and check which step is the cause for the delay:
Switch off the power button in your arrangement. It could be the unloading of plugins that takes time.
Select “new project” from the project menu, to remove your current project from memory.
Now exit Podium. Still a long delay?

Thanks for the quick reply. I’m at work now so I can’t check the above mentioned yet – however, I do remember that I also tried checking the closing time again after I first opened Podium. The start up page opened first as always and I tried closing before doing anything else. Again there was this same delay.
I didn’t think I could save in the demo mode so I didn’t try that.

thcilnnahojParticipantHello,
I actually have a similar experience. For me it takes just 4-5 seconds though, I can live with that… so I never brought it up.
In my case it’s irrelevant if a big arrangement is activated or if I create a blank one without plug-ins first. You got me curious and I’m pretty sure now it’s my anti-virus software ‘guard’ – upon disabling that, it’s down to 1 second.

swindusParticipantYes, some anti-virus software can cause this. Had the same experience on a pc.

bfloyd6969ParticipantThanks for the tip. I’m using Nod 32 but never had this problem with any other apps. 4~5 seconds I could live with but I’m more like 45 seconds. I’ll have to check the things that Fritz mentioned. Thanks again.

swindusParticipantMaybe you can create a exception in your anti virus software for the file podium.exe. This did the trick for me.

Thanks, I’ll give that a try.

Hi Fritz, I tried the tasks you mentioned and the delay is still there. I also tried as others mentioned by checking my anti-virus and all is good there. I don’t know why I’m getting this. Could this be from being in demo mode? Should I try a re-install due to a possible bad .ini?
February 21, 2009 at 00:00 #14465
druidParticipantYou checked your anti-virus? Or did you actually disable it and try, or at least create an exception?
I only say this because it is not clear – checking an anti-virus program and setting it up or disabling it are different things!

Thanks again Druid. I checked the anti-virus and didn’t see any options for Podium in there. I didn’t actually disable it though. I’ll have to try that next.

This should not be an issue of the demo version, and it should not be necessary to do a reinstall.
As suggested in the posts above, please try to temporarily disable your virus/spyware tools, and check if this affects the delay when opening and closing Podium.

Thanks Fritz, will do.

bfloyd6969ParticipantThat was it. I disabled my anti virus and Podium closed immediately. So what is it in the anti virus that is causing a closing delay in Podium and none of the other apps I have???

I don’t know. I’m using Avast antivirus on Vista, and I don’t have problems with any noticeable delays on any applications.
When you close Podium, does the Podium main window remain open during the entire delay?
