Why that’s an awesome ditty there Levendis…I only got to hear it through my crappy netbook speakers but I could tell you had some nice density going on…will check out more properly later. I’ll try to be productive next week so I can add a little something. A great start for the group—-
EDIT: Have you tried Aalto? Something tells me you’d like it…audio alchemy supreme.
Thanks for checking out the group, 4mica 🙂
I figured as every other DAW has a SoundCloud group we should plant a flag too. I really hope the tracklist grows and showcases the talents of Podium users.
Please add some of your music, even if it’s only 30 seconds long or a ‘Work In Progress’ – others will offer advice and observation.

I visited the website for Aalto and failed to find audio demos of it’s sound. I do like layering modulations over signals but find built in arpeggiators a little daunting (unless factory presets deliver what I’m after).

What a coincidence you used the word ‘alchemy’, as the track does include Camel Audio’s sampler – Alchemy
Aalto demo videos are available on You Tube…also, on Soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/groups/aalto-users-group-madrona-labs
I’m a cheap bastard when it comes to acquiring new gear, and Aalto’s the only synth VST I’ll probably ever buy. I forget I’m working on a vst when using it. It’s based on the Buchla modular, but I found it very easy to get into. The arpeggiator’s the bees knees and it adds a whole new dimension to the sound. And of course it can be turned off. If you’re looking for a “normal” synth sound, it’s possible with this, but for me it’s made for pushing sounds to the limit. It is a one developer project too, and the programmer Randy Jones is super helpful and responsive. Try the demo, mate, experiment with the presets and tell me what you think. The possibilities are through the roof with this thing. And…it’s good buddies with Podium.
ps I think I’ll do an “only Aalto” track, submit to both Podium and Aalto Soundcloud groups…two birds, one stone! Good day-

By all means do so, 4mica 😀
My tracks look very lonely on the page at the moment 😥
Thanks for pointing the way to Aalto’s SoundCloud Page. The modulations do sound heavy, asymmetrical and smooth. And now I have more artists to check out 😀
Sytrus is a synth I love for exponential internal turmoil and bright harmonics. You can draw waveshapes freehand!
Right now there are 11 albums I wish to purchase. Once my wallet recovers from those I’ll consider adding Aalto to my VST folder.
I’ve been hearing about Sytrus for a while, but I just never got around to checking it out…got the demo now, thanks for the heads up there.
Today’s my day off, I’ll try working on a little something…
Hey there, Levendis. Thanks for starting up the SoundCloud group! It’s an excellent idea and Zynewave Podium and its users ought to claim a spot. I’ve loved SoundCloud and their whole setup since first hearing about them late last year.
I’ve got to get the licensed version of Podium this week and unlock the multicore processing capabilities, so for the time being I’m pumping in some of my sounds and effects via USB and a bunch of Digitech equipment, which fortunately has an ASIO with x<9ms latency -- all of this meaning I could only post a couple of lighter weight offerings.
In any case, count me in. As soon as I get this DAW fully enabled I can get back to finishing a file full of new material and post some new. I don’t really play or record much of the electronica and related stuff some of you are into, but I seem to be moving a little in that direction and love checking out the results the rest of you have posted there. It’s inspiring, too, to hear what Podium is capable of, and I can understand why extended MIDI features seem to be on everyone’s wish list on this forum.
I’m about a million miles away from your genres right now, but I can just feel already the positive influence it’s having on my own approach to music.
Thank you very much Telenator for joining and contributing to our SoundCloud page 😀 With a voice like yours I imagine your gigs to be intimate and conjure sentimental memories for its audience.

Flattered you take inspiration for your music, horrified that it might turn out to be corruption of your style. Your tunes are solid ground, keep building The Telenator sound 😀 The more diverse the music in that group is, the more evident Podium’s versatility is.

+1
Zynewave is a member and has yet to upload his musical creations 🙄 He also turned down the offer to be the group’s administrator citing he’d prefer it be a Podium user community 🙁
In my heart of hearts I wish EVERY Podium user would be represented. That said the group is only 3 months old and will undoubtedly expand 🙂
Thank you for your kind comments, Levendis. Just to fill in the blanks a bit, this is the kind of music I play at the solo gigs. Originally just trying to become a hot guitarist, I sometimes would lose my lead singer in various bands and had to work on my vocals to fill the gap. In an electric setting I like the power trio format and my main genre is the Rock Blues.
I get my influences from so many sources. I see many techniques used by you guys as of great interest to me. Who knows what I can incorporate at some point along the journey. I’ve been a working pro in the business for some 40 years and have studio experience going back to 4 and 8-track reels. So when I tell you that you got some very creative and clever segments in what I’ve heard I know what I’m talking about.
My oldest son is a touring electronica pro. I think he describes his bag as “post-dubstep,” and some of his work is making a big impression on me too. I think so much of this stuff is fascinating, even though I’m mainly an old school player.
Regarding you final remark, I have no doubt that more posts on the SoundCloud group will be coming in from other members. Part of why I posted more conventional tunes was to show the great diversity of music possible with Podium. I encourage more users to join the group and upload their music. There’s plenty of space for more!

Frits likes classical music and the occasional folk or blues song on his guitar, as far as I can tell anyway. Maybe one day he’ll be confident enough to let us hear a song he has written. 😉
I’d certainly be part of the group already, even though I only make music for myself (terribly introverted, I know) – IF it weren’t for the fact that I haven’t actually made any in months! When I manage to do so again I’ll be happy to join. 🙂
How’s Soundcloud working out for you anyway, as far as your music being discovered by others and interaction with people is concerned? I assume most of the people who have an account there make music themselves, so the possible spectrum of listeners is a little limited…?
thcilnnahoj, a very wise observation. I think most musicians/composers are using SoundCloud so much because it is so helpful and easy to post and disseminate music. You can spread your tunes to Fb, your own website, etc., in one upload/click. So the exposure comes in that regard, I think, more than toward end user and sales. It’s a tool.
Downside of free membership is that if you have lots of material, are an active producing musician, you can max out your quota very quickly, and then need to start removing lessor works to make room for new.
From what I’ve heard/seen, there is every genre and level of quality known to mankind on SoundCloud. Everybody appears to be represented and folks congregate around their genre.
I would love to see every user of Podium join the PODIUM POPPETS group and throw on at least one example, however large or small the clip, so we can show the diversity of styles and have everyone represented. It need not be slick and fully finished. I often like to expose the process. I say, if it sounds good, go ahead and post it. The timid can always start an alias account there and post — why not?
Zynewave and Podium is a very well-kept secret it seems. Most of my musician friends, pro or not, have never heard those names — only the big three or so seem to get lip service.
IF PEOPLE ONLY KNEW! Podium is no toy, as we here all know. But so far it’s a sleeper. Aside from most Ableton users and maybe one or two other brands (e.g., REAPER), I know a lot of discontents out there regarding the DAWs they are currently using.
I have every intention of Music World Conquest and Domination via use of Zynewave products. (he he!)
Hi all – greetings from a beginner and new Podium user 🙂

This kind of encouraged me, so I added my first piece of work done in Podium (since at the moment I don’t really know when I will have time to finish it).

I am fully aware that my singing is crap. As soon as I have some free time again I am gonna find somebody who can sing.
Respect for all forum users – really like the atmosphere here.
Hey, Kozaberger, i listened to your post on SoundCloud. Just wanted to say that the recording quality is pretty darn good, so you’re obviously off to a good start with your use of Podium. I’m rater new here with this DAW myself, just this week beginning to feel completely comfortable with using this software. I hope you will post more music when you get more tunes finished.
Regarding the voice situation, I relied on lead singers for my various bands for years and most were rather good, but this arrangement was not without its problems. I had a couple of them “reinturpret” and essentially butcher my original tunes, one crapped out on us at the last minute because his girlfriend didn’t want him performing live in front of other gals, etc., etc. So I began on the long hard road of learning to sing professionally. It ended up being about 10 times harder than getting good on a guitar, and it seemed to take forever just to get to a place where I felt the quality of my vocals started to become acceptable. I think that many musicians who don’t have to sing never fully understand what a challenge it is.
Thank you Telenator! As for the vocals, I understand you well. The problem is that when I want someone to sing in my song, I want this someone to have a personality (which should be present in his/her singing). On the other hand, persons with strong personalities may tend to do what you described. I will keep practicing myself (due to my time constraints for now I only am doing it when driving ;))
